Do you ever get nervous or very anxious when you're about to go on a date?

This may seem quite immature but I do, not only because I constantly feel that I have to keep everything perfect but i'm for some reason hindered by social 'retardation', heh not literally but yeah.

I really love spending time with my girlfriend and i'm never nervous or anxious when i'm with her. But just say a few hours before the date I start feeling anxious for no expected reason. But when i'm with her it all goes away. I've been told that I over-think most situations and its true, but I have no idea why.

Does this happen to you? If so how do you handle it?

You may just be anxious because you're counting down the minutes/hours, or that you're worrying something will go wrong.

with my ex, I always slightly worried/stressed, but that's because he had a wonderful habit of cancling plans :-P

Two drinks is usually sufficient to cure any combination SAD/nervousness/shyness and still leave you in control.

I get nervous if I haven't seen my boyfriend in a long time. A long time being a week, lol. I think it stems from my insecurity, I get worried that he wont like me anymore or some shit like that (gay, I know). So I'll spend hours getting ready, and in the end he just rips my clothes off anyway, and every time I'm just like "Oh yeah, he loves me, duh!" I still get nervous though.

Sick_boy, that's the same with me. I worry myself so much thinking "Does she still like me", "What if ******** was to happen, would we still...". Perhaps thats just an insecurity I have but I hate it and I wish it would go away.

But like I said when i'm with her it all goes away and i'm left thinking "what the hell was I so worry about".

Always, always FAP at least twice before a date.

1) Makes you less nervous

2) Releases endorphines, you'll be happy, you'll make alotta jokes.

3) If you get some, you'll last a lot longer.

i get nervous too man,if its the first date i go on with the girl...of course.everything has gotta be perfect.

but with my current girl(and probably the one im gonna marry) i dont get nervous for shit...im completely at ease...unless i have something planned...but then im not nervous about her,im worried about what i have planned not going to...plan.lol.

The thing is that these aren't 'first' dates, we've been going out for a while now and gone on quite a few dates, sure each time it gets easier and the nerves aren't as intense, but they are still there.

Also, i'm not nervous about her either, i'm not exactly sure what I'm nervous about, I guess its not making an idiot out of myself.

You can probably tell i'm relatively new to all of this.

My tip is force yourself to think abotu somethign else, i concentrate on reading, and then like 10 mins before i meet her i have forgotten! But like im seeing my gf on sat to get busy for the first time so im more pumped then nervous...

So, I went on another date today. As usual I was pretty damn anxious. I'm not old enough for a lisence and where I was going wasn't near a train station, so I caught a bus there but waiting at the stop made me feel crazy, because I never ever catch buses so I dont know how they run.

I didn't even know the time of the bus so the longer and longer I waited the more I thought "Hang on, i'm going to have to call for a lift", which is really quite embarrasing. SO yeah, I get to where I was heading to, she was late which was just dandy... considering my nerves.

But after about 2 minutes with her, when the tension was finally broken I felt 100% comfortable with her and my nerves literally disappeared.

Edit: I guess catching the 'bus' kinda distracted my mind a little.

I'm exactly the same, only I seem to have become really cynical so instead of the optimistic "That's stupid, of course she'll still like you" or whatever I'm just really pessimistic... Which somehow still works for me, I relax slightly more and end up feeling happier because what I was dreading never came to pass.

And to Sick_Boy; Eww! Maybe I'm just crazy, but buses are disgusting, I avoid them at all costs.

The only time I ever get nervous is when I've done something illegal and I'm being confronted by police. Job interviews, dates, whatever.. No, I don't get nervous because I seriously just don't care about the result. I put on a smile and my wit and away I go into auto pilot.
