this person is my best friend, and i just need to know how i can handle this. One of my friends in high school turned out to be gay, but it took him a few years to get around to really admitting it. I remember when I first met him he was always bragging about all these chics he hooked up with (overcompensating, really) then like 3 years later he finally started openly admitting he was gay.

He may or may not want to tell his family, depends on how they are, but treat it as if he doesnt want anyone else to know just to be safe.
