How do you make friends?
Ok, after moving to a new city and starting school, I've noticed something. I can't seem to make new friends. I can be friendly with people, but I can't really get as far as being "friends" with them. I spend most of my time alone on the computer or studying. I'm not asking for advice, I can figure that out myself, but I just want to know- what's wrong with me?
Sometimes I wonder if there's just something people don't like about me that I don't know about. Maybe they don't even know it either, and it's just subconscious? Like the weird guy that you dislike just because of how he carries himself or talks. I don't know. It just seems weird to me that I have to initiate stuff with people, and it doesn't just happen naturally like with most people.
Do you have to make an effort to make friends, or does it just come to you naturally? Does anyone else ever make an effort to be friends with you? Ie, ask you to do things with them etc.?

Re: How do you make friends?
It takes quite a while usually to get to as stage you would call people 'friends'
I know how you feel though, new college and all and you are friendly with people but never seem to hang round with them or be real friends, and i am usuall yin the computers room/library but thats cos my graphic design work takes up a HELL of alot of time an di need to do it in there
I think it just takes time, things will change for the better soon enough

Re: How do you make friends?
Find people you click with or have similar interests.
Ask them what they're doing friday/saturday.
Be real up front and just tell them you're new in town, don't know anyone and are getting sick of sitting at the computer pulling your dick when you should be out drinking and invite yourself along.
If they don't laugh at that, they're not worth being mates with.

There's something else that I didn't say.
I was the same way all through high school. I'd say I haven't made a new friend since I was 15. I'm 18 now.

I haven't made a new friend since I was 12, and I'm 21 now.
Suck on that.
I can't make friends for fuck either. Fuck 'em. I keep myself entertained fine and dandy. And I've got you, totse. I'll always have you... .

Re: How do you make friends?
I make 'friends' easy because I am loud, outgoing and fun.
I don't like most people though, and prefer to spend time alone than with people I don't like. Going out every weekend is not the be all and end all. I was doing it for 4 months solid at one stage, thursdays, fridays, saturdays and sometimes sundays.
I haven't gone and got shitfaced for a while now. You get fed up with it. I'd rather kick back on a beach or have a bbq or go fishing. What are your interests? Go join a club that caters to them or go play sport.
It's not hard. It's all in the mindset. Don't be self conscious.

Re: How do you make friends?
it's not that easy to explain. it has a lot to do with your demeanor and how you respond to the other person. it's sort of....falling into a groove. it does take being outgoing and forward, though. you've got to smile a lot and not be afraid to introduce yourself. but once you're with a group don't try too hard. i'd explain better, it's just hard to teach.
i have an entirely different problem. i have a knack for fucking things up with people i'm already friends with.
