So I started college a few weeks ago. Cattycorner across the hall from me is a girl who's pretty cute, cool, etc. The second day of orientation, she managed to find and fuck a boyfriend in a neighboring dorm. She said that she was so happy to have gotten out of the constraints her father had put on her at home that she "blew the first guy that was nice to" her, in her words.

Ok, whatever, so far.

Then, about a week ago, she starts coming into my room, and flirting with me. I've played the girls with boyfriends game before, and it didn't work out so well, so though I was responsive, I didn't escalate anything. She did, however, and though nothing has gone on (because I didn't want it to), the whole hall thinks we're fucking.

Until last night, however, she still claimed to want to be in a relationship with this other dude. Last night that tune changed. I haven't talked to her yet today, but she still hadn't broken up with him last I heard.

Should I run, stick around to see what happens, or try to escalate it myself?

My main question is, do I escalate and seal the deal as soon as possible, or let her continue to come on to me?

I'd say chances are that if you don't respond, she'll find someone else, unless she just wants you and only you that badly.

Well, there's something she likes about me specifically - she explained to me one night that I'm "everything that she hates" (she said that, but that's not quite what she meant) - she wants a rabid liberal (I'm Libertarian), she wants somebody who doesn't do drugs (I drink and occasionally smoke weed), she wants a black guy (I'm white, as is her current "boyfriend" thing).

So I'm not quite sure why she keeps on going for me, but I think I'll try to make something happen as soon as possible in case she finds somebody "better".
