I dont understand why anyone would want to have sex with somebody that wasn't actively involved in reciprocating the interest (which for me is generally very high).

A lot of girls, I find, simply don't want to ask about it on the first night etc because they don't want to give the wrong impression. If you make the right moves though, they'll happily go along - just without actively saying "CMON I'VE ONLY JUST MET YOU BUT I WANT YOU IN ME GRRRRR" etc.
