I've always wondered why...
Edit: I've seemed to notice that a lot of the time when somebody feels attracted to another they always push them towards somebody else. I'm really not sure why they do this. For example, an acquaintances boyfriend just broke up with her yesterday. They dated for quite a while and just today during school she was telling this girl that he likes to go out with him and that he had interest in him, knowing she shared the interest and would most likely go out with him. An easy explination for that would of course be, she wanted to piss him off by making him appear immature. I recall having some heart felt crushes on guys a couple years back and always telling them who they should "go out" with, etc.
I believe this is possibly just immaturity, I mean I'm pretty positive it is but I still want to know what possesses kids to behave in such ways. They don't know why they're doing it, it just feels right to them.
This is what I've come up with;
I believe that it is the effect of the same thing that causes you to loose items. You subconciously want to misplace something, yet you don't fully acknowledge this and just "accidently" misplace it. Yet, really you meant to. If you honestly wanted to keep up with something you could keep up with it. I've had sevrel significant items for years now and a few I thought were significant until I lost them, who cares life goes on. This relates to that human you're attracted to, perhaps you push them away because you don't really want them and that's your mind's way of getting attention.
This could be simple because of your defense over your feelings towards this person, whatever the reason you drive them away.
I'm sure there's thousands of reason but I would like to know yours.
I believe I kind of answered this and realised that this thread is a bit stupid and unimportant. I would like to know what you think about my reasoning however.

Re: I've always wondered why...
I disagree. I think it is a want to get over that person, and to do them a 'good deed' whilst doing so.
Also, it is possible that they want to seem non-threatening to this person.

Well, that's what I was saying with my philosophy about I suppose, subconciously doing things. That is, them wanting to get over the person.
I've done it in the past and I would get mad at myself when that person actually expressed interest in my idea.
Also, I thought about them simply just not wanting their "crush" to find out so bad they do this instead.
That's one person to give me some sort of response, thanks.

I'm left having no idea to what you are refering.
I do recognize your name as a respected regular though, you did tell me so.
Flesh out your idea if you'd like an opinion.

I'll attempt, I'm in a bit of a hurry and I don't see much point in this thread anymore ither.
Meh, don't listen to me about the respected bullshit. I don't know if I am or not, nor do I really care. At the time I posted I believe I'd had several occurances of what we could call, ego boosts. Probably made me appear a bit pompous and arrogant, eh?

Re: I've always wondered why...
Do you mean that when two people are attracted to eachother one will say 'You should go out with ____". If that be the case than i believe it's just a simple test that is eaisly passed off as sarcasm.

Re: I've always wondered why...
I suppose I put too much thought into things that don't much matter. You all really don't seem too enthused about this or me. Thanks anyways.
Edit: It's funny you would advise hanging out with girls and listening to Pearl Jam. I was actually listening to their new CD today, which is good because it sounds a lot like their old stuff. I don't much care for recent. Also, I hung out with a girl named Hannah and we went to see our friend's concert.

Re: I've always wondered why...
Definitely listen to Depeche Mode. "Enjoy the silence" is amazing! If you don't already, start a journal and just write whatever comes to mind.

Rofl, thanks for attempting to make me feel better. I don't really like to get too deep when I don't care about the subject at hand. I'm not at all offended and completely understand. No sympathy needed.

I just find it disturbing all of the stuff you see/think about. I don't mean to seem like a patronizing adult...I just want kids to be kids, you know?

I see where you're coming from. You don't come across as patronizing at all. I actually do enjoy being a kid and most people I know never see this side to me.
It's kind of what I use Totse for, and few close friends and my father and then myself of course . I can't deny this side and I don't care to ither. I just don't try acknowledging it anyways.
If you met me in person I would probably not come across the same way I appear on here. I'm loud and obnoxious. I'm hyper most of the time, I am mature and I have a different sense of humor than the kids my age but I make it so they can still laugh, which is what I always do. Unless I was in the mood to have a serious conversation, or actually paid attention to you, you would think nothing of this side to me.
I'm still maturing and I accept I have much to learn and that I don't have everything figured out. I don't think the thoughts that I'm having are more advace than they would be, part of growing up. I suppose that's what you're basically getting at. You have to come to an agreement and contentness that things aren't the way they were and probably never will be again. Things happen faster now and it's no longer abnormal. It sucks, I know.
I fear for kids my age as well. I won't go into detail . I'll just leave letting you know I can relate.

I actually bought that CD. It's the first I bought in like seriously five years. I don't care too much for their music, but I respect Pearl Jam so much that I refuse to download it. Which makes me feel like some sort of queen of morality or something.
Anyway, to answer the question, when I was younger and I used to do this it was for one rather simple reason: I wanted to spend more time with him without letting him know that I had a crush on him. So I would push one of my friends at him. I also wondered what the reasoning was, but I think I probably knew even back then. It's not too complicated.
And Xiao: Sylph is exactly like I was at her age. Just constantly thinking, analyzing, picking apart every little thing. I think it has been beneficial for me. I have a better understanding of the world around me than most anyone else I know. It's nice to feel like I know what's going on.

Maybe you're ridiculously shy, and you really shouldn't get so embarrassed that you actually like someone. Just go for it, live a little

It's far more disturbing when people don't have any sort of curiousity, and simply don't care about anything other than shoes or mtv.
I'm glad sylph is analyzing, thinking, forming opinions, and actually learning about her surroundings. We need more people like that, not less.

I believe that that makes no sense at all. I'm sure I (subconsciously) want to lose my keys and get yelled at or lose my book that I was absorbed in and go crazy looking for it? Please explain why you feel that people subconsciously want to lose things.
Strange it may be, but I don't believe that every human behavior is caused by some irrational subconscious urge. Perhaps people lose things because they're not computers and thus have memory/concentration problems...? Maybe I set my book down because I'm distracted, not because I secretly want to be frustrated and bored.

Re: I've always wondered why...
To the original topic, Sylph, I do know what you mean.
I have a friend, I don't have a "crush" on her, but I am attracted to her.. another girl really fancies this friend, and I felt like drawing attention to the fact, but I can't explain why. As in "so-and-so fancies your pants off, why don't you get with them" but when I see these two people getting pretty close, I feel a twinge of jealousy sometimes. I just feel it would be the right thing to point it out, though it might be blindingly obvious to her anyway. I want my friends to be happy.
Well that might not be quite the same as in the original post, but that's only because I'm not good at explaining things, especially in the morning.
