The Forbidden Fruit
What the hell is the deal with all the kids looking to steal a girl away from someone else? I honestly cannot fathom this. I mean, I've been there before, but not since adolescence ended, lol.
When I meet a cute girl, she's free to hit on. But if I find out she has a boyfriend, that's obviously going to alter things. If her boyfriend isn't there, I'll probably still flirt with her anyway - flirting is fun, after all - but I'm not gonna sit and pine and shit. Stealing her away doesn't even occur to me. She's a big girl, she can figure out who she's in love with, right?
Is this just a teenager thing, or what?

Your sarcasm = unhelpful and petulant.
Wanting to be with someone attractive of the opposite sex is entirely understandable. If I see some cute girl, I want her regardless of her status. It never hurts to look, right?
What I don't get is moping around, sacrificing your happiness and your dignity, and completely demeaning yourself - often in public! - because you can't have ONE attractive girl. I dunno where you live, but move to Milwaukee - we have MANY attractive women here. Many are unattached. And the attached ones are still fun to talk to. And if they aren't, sometimes they'll throw down on the weed.
Let's be realistic. I dunno about you guys, but when I've developed a psychotic attachment to some chick with a boyfriend, it's generally been for a few reasons:
- I was an inept, awkward teenager with zero skillz, and she was one of very few pretty girls who talked to me. Or,
- I'd been drinking way, WAY too much whiskey, and reading the poems of Dylan Thomas.
And that's about fucking it, gentlemen. I'm not going to stand here and say all chicks are all the same - nothing could be further from the truth. But more than one personality/look/whatever can trip your trigger.
It's a big sea with a lot of fish in it. Swim around a little, y'know?

Why the fuck did I read the title as "The Forbidden Trout"?
I need sleep/coffee. Long last few days, in a few ways.
Flirting is fine, but the intent to steal away the person from their partner, is in my opinion, despicable, no respect to any guys that try that (unless girl is a in an abusive relationship/etc.) and even to girls that do that. Attention whores.

Re: The Forbidden Fruit
I will admit to flirting with a girl just because I hated her boyfriend and wanted to emasculate him. But until they actually broke up, it never occurred to me that she might be ripe for the plucking...

This is exactly what I was saying in reference to dating friends' ex's and ex's friends a while back...
But you see nothing wrong with that.
I guess we all play by our own rules.

Nope.
But here's a real big difference. A friend's ex is on the market, and fer reelz. If she wants you, and you want her, what's the problem? Just your buddy being petulant about a defeat. Me, I was raised to handle defeat with dignity. And before anyone laughs and calls bullshit, I had the odd pleasure this spring of talking a buddy into dating my ex. I just ask that the recently lovelorn follow one of the most basic rules of a happy life - learn to make the best of a shitty situation.
Break-ups, in most cases, aren't indictments and shouldn't be taken as such.
On the other hand, look at what I'm talking about in this thread. If you chase after some chick who's taken, you're usually:
- Being a little dense
- Causing vast social friction between you and your prizes' friends
- Implicitly insulting the girl's judgement, and
- Turn yourself into one of the most commonly mocked stereotypes of the day, the Dumbass Who Chases A Chick Who Doesn't Want Him.
And that's fucking lame. No chick is more important than your self-respect. None. Period.

Re: The Forbidden Fruit
You can't really blame the the guys for "stealing" girls. The guy doing the "stealing" has something the BF doesn't have. She has to be willing to be "stolen". It's not like the "stealer" smashes a window and takes her away. It's all consensual. If a girl was COMPLETELY satisfied in a relationship, she wouldn't cheat.

Way to contradict yourself....
You ever heard the phrase; "All is good in love and war"?
You either believe in it or you don't.
My moral boundaries don't allow me to even consider friends of ex's or ex's friends.
But who's to say that some other person even gives a damn if the girl is married for 10 years and has 3 kids?
There's no universal law when it comes to love...
So basically, your thread is just as pointless as mine were, where I was complaining of losing my ex to a (ex) friend.

lol... You're not even trying, Gadzooks. I understand you feel like you've got a personal score to settle here, but sadly, your grudges have nothing to do with the facts.
When two people - regardless of one being a friend - split up, they are by definition available. You see no difference between this - going after an available woman - and going after a chick who's in a relationship?
You seem to think I'm saying "Don't go after taken girls, it's wrong and sinful and you'll go to hell." I'm not. I'm saying, "Don't go after taken girls, because you're just making an ass out of yourself, and serving yourself up for widespread public mockery over a chick who very clearly won't date you."

Ok, you're right. I actually completely missunderstood this thread. I thought it was about the morality of stealing a woman away from another man.

There are plenty of cases where the taken girl wants to be seduced by someone else. IE: Boredom. You never made any distinction in your original post, so I just assumed you were saying it was bad in general to steal a girl away.
My assumptions appear to be incorrect.

Read what you wrote again, with emphasis on the bold points. You obviously CAN 'fathom' the idea, so don't fucking lie and say you can't. Because I'll catch you.

-slaps you around a bit with a large trout-
I used to go fishing down off the pier at the beach. And there were usually quite a few fishermen people out there and they did pretty well, but I was sucky and never caught anything. It didnt matter because on cool nights it was pretty peaceful out there. Anyways, one time I actually caught a fish. And I was reeling it up, and a shark bit it in half. I pulled it up out of the water and it was bleeding profusely out of these gaping wounds in its sides. For some reason, I thought I'd put it back in to try and catch the shark. But sharks are smarter then me, and he ran away with the fish.

Re: The Forbidden Fruit
I think it's perfectly ok as long as the girl is cool with it too.
I lived with a girl (and her bf) for a couple months, and when he went to work, she would call me on my phone (sleeping on the couch) and tell me to come to bed. That dumb fucker still has no clue to this day. I don't feel bad though, because he treated her like shit.
They are actually still together almost a year later, and doing better so she says.
I did end up leaving on my own, it got hard to do when he was trying to be my friend, feeding me drugs and taking me out drinking.
