Default Racial matters.

Ok, so I have a few questions to the people who have a lot of relationship advice. I just got a girlfriend who happens to be asian, but lived in the Philippines. She is chinese and is going to DU. I live about 40 minutes away from there, and we hooked up at my friends party. My friend and her are good friends but he is chasing some other girls. Well she will be up here for 2 more years getting her degree in accounting and then her CPA later on. So by the sounds of it she will be making more money then me shortly. Her family is damn rich and I come from a normal family that makes me buy everything for myself. I mean she bought a 800 dollar shirt!! I wouldn't spend that much on anything except my car. Do people see any of this stuff being a big problem? She seems like a really good girl and I still will give it a shot, but it seems terribly inconvienant

I'd be insecure if the girl made that much more then me. But thats not necessarily right. I'd try and ignore it the best you could, just dont let it become an issue. Dont let her spoil you. You handle your stuff, and she'll handle hers.

Isn't this more of a money issue, than a racial one?

My family is better off than my boyfriend's, and we're fine with it (it doesn't really come up, he just pays when he can) but he told me today that his mom brought it up when they were fighting. She said something like "I'm sorry we can't buy you everything you want like Chelsea's parents!"

Now I feel dumb and I'm scared to see her again because I guess she thinks I'm spoiled.

As for your situation, go for it! Who cares if she's richer than you? I'd just see it as a bonus to having a good girl.

Well true it is a lot of problems, but I am still worried she just wants to become an American citizen... Plus, she told me if I moved to Philippines I'd be rich because its like 1 US dollar for 50 phil pesos... I don't know I've usually only date american girls. I am american, and my race is Spanish/white.

My gf is from Taiwan and when her parents found out about me, they told her not to ever talk to me - not that she follows their orders.

Her parents want her to only be seeing Traditional Taiwanese guys.

*sigh*

But I still love having her as my girlfriend - she is great!

this doesn't really have much to do with race at all...

cross-cultural relationships can be dangerous, you both may be shocked at the values you take for granted that you don't share.
