Default So I can't "fall in love"

Is there a certain name for this? I feel like I can only come close to a very certain few people, mostly those I've known for a while. If you asked me right now, I'd say that I 'loved' maybe 5 people. I can easily be good friends with people, but I just cant 'fall in love' with someone of the opposite sex (and obviously not the same sex). I hook up with plenty of girls, and some of them I talk to and stay with for a while, but its usually not ever just them. I can never really have the feeling of 'love', except when it's involving a close friend, maybe an animal, or a family member.

You don't just "find" love. After you've been with someone that you really like for a long time you sort of just start falling in love I guess. It's about trust to I couldn't trust my ex alot of shit.

For me it's more the opposite.

I get this heavily infatuated rush, and then once I'm with them, it just fades away.

Maybe you have a chemical imbalance. Or maybe it's just a phase man. You're only 16. Don't worry about it too much, you have your whole life ahead of you.

Love comes with happiness, when you find someone that truly makes you happy, you'll find love...

"I had fellings, but my first real old lady left with them, and refuse to give 'em back so I'm rollin like that."

Soulja Slim R.I.P.

This one line i can relate to so much. My first girl friend I let my self fall in love with and the relationship didn't work out. I was devistated. Now I won't let my self fall in love again.

I used to fall in love all the time. Now, it just gets less and less frequent. Why is that?

Also, when you're in love you really believe that that person is perfect. And I guess after you've been madly in love a few times you realise that there's no such thing as perfect.

Wrong. When you've been madly in love a few times, you realize they dont have to be perfect.

I'm not sure about that. Someone with alot of faults isn't gonna take up much of my time. Or, at least, they shouldn't do...

Fell in love too easily in my last relationship. Ended badly.

Closed up a lot for a long while, more or less unable to feel anything near love for a while (8 months). Got into another relationship.

Got comfortable and a lot of trust between us, so I sort of let myself feel that way once again. It got somewhat said between us a few weeks ago.

I have a very strong feeling that it's about to end here very soon. I've been dragged through it for 2 days now, watching it go and unable to do a thing. Gotta be one of the worst feelings in the world. Wonder how I'll go now..

What's your honest opinion of yourself? If you think low of yourself, and fake confidence through cockiness...chances are that your relationships tend to be shallow, incapable of reaching the level of trust that fosters 'Love'.

If you think low of yourself, and fake confidence through avoidance as if your problems aren't even a challenge to you, once again your relationships will tend to be shallow.

As you grow and become more aware of who you are as a human being, your knowledge of who and what you are is going to change; as this changes, so does the depth of the emotions you express...they're no longer based on the outside world affecting you, but you affecting the outside world. Operating from the inside to the outside is something most teenagers completely fail to grasp, and it breeds a lot of bullshit that they have to deal with once they finally do pull their head from their ass. You'll eventually find your purpose, then your self, then you'll begin to respect and love all that you've gone through as a set of necessary experiences to get you to where you are; only when you have love and respect for your self does it become possible to truly love and respect another.

I'm the same way. I always end up being really infatuated with somebody but then I just quickly loose interest.

I'm extremely analytical and I depend on my mind more than my emotions and I analyze things more than I should. Just allow yourself to express your emotions a bit more.

You probably just haven't met the right person yet, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

This response isn't a 5 dollar one, I'm kind of rambling I'm sure you'll recieve better. Meh...

I purposely avoided having meaningless relationships as a teen so that I wouldn't fall into this trap. Eventually, I found that right woman who intrigued me, kept me on my feet, provided me with what was missing in my life, and made me very happy. Now we're engaged. It's weird, we think and act very much the same, and our weaknesses, are made up for by the other's strength. Between the two of us, we have no weaknesses. We talk and express our problems and feelings openly without reprocutions and overall make an excellent team.

It think the main thing is to search for a person who is similar to you, but compliments your traits with their own to create a stronger team, than the individual players themselves.

I don't know if I can or can't but one issue I have is that I can't distinguish between romantic love and platonic love. Probably because I've never experienced what romantic love it, if it exsists that is. I'm far from worried about it.
