Default What's with all the break ups?

Lately everybody's been breaking up.

I've noticed in real life and on Totse. And if they're not breaking up, they're having problems.

I mean, I'm guessing that it's because summer is over. The partying is done and people are getting more serious.

It sucks though. I guess this didn't have a point, I was just making an observation and wondering if anybody else had noticed it.

I know too many people who have broken up in the last few weeks. Guess it's the whole school starting thing and people changing?

I'm on the edge of a posile breakup, in other words some serious problems. Mine don't involve less drinking/parties, but part of it is based on that... bah. *adds own name to list*

Yeah, I've noticed it too. The past few weeks have been absolute hell for me, I hope the end of the next season brings me happiness in life.

A friend of mine that I work with are both having serious relationship problems, both on the verge of break-up, and it's funny because even though we are a few years apart and have little in common, our girlfriends look like they could be twins.

It's really depressing.

But maybe we can all be emo together for awhile.

In a way, I feel better because I know I'm not the only one who feels this way, but at the same time I don't want any of us to feel so shitty.

Ah, well. Shit happens, right?

Maybe it's the weather, they say it effects moods But that'd most likely only apply to the northern hem. at this time.

Maybe it's just the way we think, and media has a huge influence on this.

The girls see the love stories where the guys try oh so hard, bring them flowers surprise them with dinner, and it's always the norm.

The girl may feel that it should be happening like that in their relationship.

*shrug* maybe people are just getting lazier.

Well, one problem is also, oh yeah I'm saying it, the internet.

It's much easier to be suspicious, check up on your bf/gf, find things from the past, not get enough personal time, because you're on AIM or Y! you HAVE to be talking to them.

*shrug* or maybe people are just getting into relationships too quickly.

Who knows, there are 6 diffrent angles to look at this from haha.

I know I rushed things a bit.

And things are just getting crazy. I wasn't really emotionally ready for a relationship, and while I think we both wanted it to go somewhere that wasn't possible with everything going on.

But... That's a good/easy break up compared to what some people are going through. And it wasn't long and drawn out, which is good. I'm just really tired of watching people go through this.

A girl at work had been planning on breaking things off with her boyfriend for two months, because he was a complete dick. The other night she talked to him with the intention of ending it, but he got to it first.

It's school, in my group of friends. No more time for eachother, stress, parties, new temptations... there's been tons of fighting amongst the couples I know lately. Even me and my b/f have been fighting a lot more than usual. Should all settle down before thanksgiving/christmas though. Noone wants to be alone during the holidays...

Pretty simple... Monogony doesn't work. People need to date and have multiple relationships at the same time, and ONLY have a bf/gf relationship after a few months when they both decide on it. Not jump into a relationship/marriage with the first person they get with, usually settling for less.

I'm currently sitting in a very tight situation and about 5 seconds at any point from a rough and depressing breakup. Update: she's gone to think and relax for a bit, talk later. Translation: I'm fucked. Anyone have a hug to spare out there?

well my marriage is going great right now.but it has a lot to do with not making the same mistakes ive made in the past, we dont take each other for granted,we talk out our problems rather than fighting, and i try to make at least one day a week that is just us time, whether its going to a movie or just staying home and cuddling on the couch,we have a marrige of equals,my stuff is no more important than hers, and we respect each other.hopefully we will make it and grow old together watching our children grow up

I had no idea you were in Australia as well, and Melbourne to boot. But yeah, I'm seeing break ups all over the place, including my one which is still hurting a bit.

But on a positive note, several couples I know a are getting on great, including one mate who has had two girlfriends for some time now. It would appear he'll be fine as long as one of them doesn't find out about the other, and it's costing him a fortune.

What he's doing is so wrong, but it's so hard not to admire a guy for actually being able to pull off having two girlfriends.

You're a Melbournian? Wicked! There's a few of us on here.

Yeah I know, everyone feels like they should say something, but everyone also recognises the fact that he's doing it so well that no one wants to be the spanner in the works. Plus it'll be much better to watch the fireworks in the knowledge that it's not your fault.

And Melbourne is by far the best city... except that it's past 4 in the morning, and I have uni tomorrow. I'm gonna be fucked.

And her sister, who also has five daughters. It's actually much easier to exist without the constrains of another person bearing down in your mind.

Yeah, but it's actually much harder to wake up and hug your hand. It's also less fulfilling. And if you haven't washed from the night before, it's also sticky.

Look, guys, this is why I never want to get involved too deeply with a woman - EVER. I'm still young, I got loads to do, I don't need this sort of shit. It's simple - if you don't want your feelings hurt and your life really shitty at some point, don't get into a serious relationship.

A good phrase here would be "Sex, drugs, and rock'n'roll". I'd much prefer a hectic lifestyle than a relatively stable one but with lots of grief and fighting with your partner.

pffft, the only people I ever hear about fighting with their partners are on totse. And having a partner can teach you a lot about yourself, as well as giving you invaluable experience.

Ah, but that's why I make those whores sleep on the couch.

And by couch, I mean under my pillow.

And by under my pillow, I mean I wake up and don't even remember where I am usually.

Who said they needed a hug to spare?

I have plenty.

Update: One of my best friends, who I have a LOT in common with (we always joke that we're the same person) texted me tonight and said "we really are the same person... I'm single now."

It was quite sad. They'd been together for over a year.

Its rather upsetting to hear about relationships especially over say 7 months ending as you think how atleast one of them must have been really getting into it.

I actually wouldnt mind a hug not really that i need one but hey!

Hmm i think its about a month ago me and my girlfriend broke up, i think one good thing to help me get over it was the fact college started about a week after it ended therefore there is something to keep my mind occupied and the chance to meet new people obviously.

Not sure why alot of couples have been breaking up in a small time period, i know alot of couples broke up when college started because they had met new people inside college and slowly drifted apart from their partner....perhaps thats one.

I've never noticed this many break ups at this time of year before though. Hmm.

I offer my solace to anyone grieving for a lost lover.

I, myself, broke things off with my girlfriend (as we had both decided we would) the night before I left for college. We're both realistic people: we both enjoy sex, we both enjoy being fucked up beyond reasoning capacity, and chances are i'd want sex anyways. Neither of us likes the thought of the other fucking someone else. She was wonderful... we still talk, but things will never be the same.

On writing that, I realize I got off really easy. I'm so sorry for all those in pain.

It's like this... you're young, leaving highschool. Well most likely your friends are in that age range too. Well, that also means it is time for college. People break up over things like college... alot. It's just how it is. But now that we are in college... let the good times roll! And by roll, I mean roll up some joints.
