Call my a loser if you want, but seriously, how stupid is this...
Alright, Last night I attended a party at one of my buddies houses. I am 17 years old at the moment. Of course, my friend decided to pull out some vodka. Now, idk if its just the way ive been raised, or that im catholic, or whatever... i mean, sex and stuff i am open about, most of you have probably deducted that from previous posts I've made on this site.
I just dont like to fuck around with alchohal or drugs, its not worth it in my eyes. So, my girlfriend comes over with a bottle of vodka, and we go down to his basement for some privacy, and when she offers me a shot(he was already pretty cooked), I declined. She immediatly started to think i was a loser/pussy. idk why she flipped out.
We have an extremely high level of trust, and for her to get mad at this tiny little thing really pissed me off. The last thing she said was "i cant believe you!" and then left, so i hit the road and came home. Now, flame me for going along with the law and making the decison that I did if you want... but do you really think that this is the kind of thing that she should fuck up our relationship over? Please give me some input.

Re: Call my a loser if you want, but seriously, how stupid is this...
It makes sense to me. Theres nothing wrong with a little alchohol once in a while. Sometimes you just want to have a good time. My ex never drank, and she used to give me a hard time about it when I drank in front of her. It was kind of a bummer. If you drink, you naturally want someone you can drink with. People that refuse to touch the stuff annoy me.

fuck that shit man, as long as you don't give her shit for drinking she should not be on your balls to drink. She's your girlfriend and should support your personal beliefs and if she's going to try and pressure you into doing something you don't want to do it's time to talk to her about your relationship.
never let anyone tell you what to do. ever.

It's fucking stupid NOT to drink, especially such a small amount. I think you just need to grow up and not let your parents control you. I mean fuck, you're 17, i started drinking when i was 13.
But... do whatever you want. Don't expect your decisions to benefit you socially, though.

And you're obviously some loser like the rest of us who succumbed to peer pressure too early. Shut up with the big-man attitude.
To the OP, I respect anyone who chooses not to drink, whatever their reason. What with the binge drinking culture of today I think it takes that something to say "no"; as long as you don't use it as an excuse to be elitist.
She was pissed, ignore what she said. Tell her she was out of line then move on.

Re: Call my a loser if you want, but seriously, how stupid is this...
I didnt read the other responses so im sorry if this is being repeated. But once you get out of high school you will realize that no one gives a shit if you dont drink/smoke/do drugs, even towards the end of high school people should start to realize this. This girl that flipped out at you is obviously very immature for her age and is still trying to do things to make her a "cool" kid. In my opinion, if a friend of mine acted like that towards me about something so ridiculous I woulndt even waste my time with them. I dont know the history you have with this girl, but if its just some random chick id say forget about it and drop her, but if its an old friend, she should absolutely respect your decision not to drink. (I also feel like she just wanted to make you look "less cool" in front of other people to make herself look more superior. Which is another reason why she seems like a dumb bitch)

You were totally in the right. It's great that you have your own values and boundaries and that you can't be persuaded out of them. If you girlfriend can't respect your personal values... well she's missing out.
Stick by what you believe. If your friends/girlfriend respect you as much as they ought to then they won't give you too much grief over it.

Re: Call my a loser if you want, but seriously, how stupid is this...
I'm sorry but I have to say that I think you shoulda taken a shot at least. Its a good thing you stand by your beliefs but in my opnion, its pretty stupid to decide your never going to try drinking without having been at least abit tipsy once. But to each his own.
Obviously your girl ain't gonna be around long. You and her probably have way different values in some areas and that'll fuck shit up.I'm speaking from experience here, I've broken up with a few chicks cause they said I partyed too hard 'n shit.
You need to find someone who has the same ideals as you.
(or more similar at least)
I can see why your girl overreacted( even though it was stupid to do so). So I don't think either of you is exactly in the wrong, she just wanted you to relax chill and have fun it seems like. Like she was just trying to share a good time with you.
Anyway just my 2 cents. Sorry if I rambled I'm pretty ripped right now.

No one pressured me to drink, and no one's pressuring him to drink. The smart thing to do is to figure out if alcohol is something that will effect you negatively or not. In most cases it will not. The question is whether or not the OP has a legitimate reason not to drink. I don't think he does, i think he's just been brainwashed.

If thats the way you handled yourself then I see no reason not to respect your choice.
Drinking isnt anything special, everyone can do it and most do. It is entirely your choice if you do or not, and as long as you dont push that on others who do drink...she was out of her fucking place.

Re: Call my a loser if you want, but seriously, how stupid is this...
I'm 19 and I don't drink. I've been buzzed, once; its just not for me. Oh and it all tastes like shit.
I don't get on anyone's case about drinking but you people who are telling him he should have drank it are fucking retarded. Who are you to tell some one what to do?
This is my second year in college and no one cares that I don't drink. I go to parties, I hang out, talk to people, have a good time and guess what; my friends have a ride home at the end of the night.
If some one asks why I'm not drinking I tell them I'm driving my friends home and there isn't a soul alive who can't respect that. Other times I'll say I don't drink and they don't give a shit, its none of their business and there's more beer for them. If I'm really not in the mood to hear it I just hold a cup full of soda.

Don't abstain because you're Christian, and definitely don't abstain because of the law. Abstain because it tastes like shit, or because you prefer to be able to think straight, or because you prefer your liver to be functional, or because you prefer not having cancer to having it. But like several people have said, think for yourself, don't listen to others. Religion and law were created by the few to control the many.

To all those people telling him that he should drink, or that there's something wrong with not drinking: Get Fucked. Just because you like it and it makes you feel cool doesn't mean that other people should have to do things that they don't want to just to fit in.
To the OP: I'm 16 man, and I'm exactly the same way with drugs and alcohol, though I'm not religious. This girl sounds like a complete bitch, and the fact that she got pissy just because you declined nicely tells me she has a lot of growing up to do. Unless you're sure she's 'the one' (which I doubt), I say dump the bitch.

This is true.
Cheebaking, you are in no position to decide legitimate. It's his choice and there is no way you can ignore negative consequences drinking can have on health. I stress the word can, because I know drinking is also benefical to good cholesterol levels, if consumed in moderation. And easy with the use of "brainwashed." He is only brainwashed if his excuses are religion and law, like the quoted passage above me describes.

Yeah I mean come on, when I was younger I was like "nah I don't want to murder people" but my friend was like "YOU HAVEN'T EVEN TRIED IT". So I did, wasn't that great.
That's horrible logic. You can decide you don't want to do something that you've never done before.
Anyways to OP, did you talk to your girlfriend about it? Maybe she was just drunk and overreacting and the likes. Talk to her about it when she's sober. Being your girlfriend though she should know your beliefs and respect that even in that state of mind.

Obviously I'm not talking about doing something ridiculously stupid like killing some one cause you havent. I'm just saying he shouldn't not drink because of religion. If he tryed it he might like to have a drink everynow and then.
If we're gonna play the comparing it to other things game, would you tell your kid(if you had one) to try broccoli before he just decided he didnt like it?
I know thats alot different then drinking, but so is killing someone.
As for Para-sailing,(or something similar) I wouldn't force it on my girlfriend, but i would try to get her to do it. I'd do it because its something I enjoy and I'd think that she'd probably enjoy it too.
Actually the girl I'm currently trying to get back together with was terrified of sky diving. But eventually i got her to agree to try it with me, and she loved it.
Then again I tend to not date people that have too many differences from me.(Personality differences yeah, but I think its important to be into alot of the same things as your significant other.)
Edit: for got the one after some.

You are in the right, and her in the wrong.
She should respect your choices and beliefs in life - no matter what.
Although, to me, alcohol should be experienced and enjoyed by everyone, being open-minded, I don't think you're a loser or anything - and that's coming from a stranger, your gf should understand you more than I should.

haha I'd be such a horrible parent, I don't even know what I'd do. Probably just cook only broccoli all the time, eventually they'd get hungry enough.
But I suppose comparing things to this situation was dumb of me, because this is not dependent on tastes or fears etc, but on personal morals.
Religion is something people believe in and while I don't agree with most of it, I don't make people who do try to do things they feel is wrong. I don't even think that's his only reason. He just wants to follow the law.
And that's cool. I want to go skydiving someday. I came up with parasailing cause I have a picture of me parasailing on my desk. I happen to love heights.

Hey man, good on you for sticking up for yourself. If that stupid bitch went mental at you just because you declined, not because you were getting all puritan on her ass, then thats her problem.
That said, PLEASE RECONSIDER NOT DRINKING! Everyone I know that didn't used to drink, and now does, is having a fucking BLAST! They are all so sorry they missed out on all the drunken shenanigans that made up most of our youths- you're missing out on the best time of your life, a time when it doesn't fucking matter where you wake up or what you did last night. Enjoy that shit while it lasts. I do .

You're not a loser. I drink, but I can respect someone who chooses not to drink/smoke/do drugs/whatever. If your girlfriend can't respect your personal choices then maybe you should reconsider that relationship.
