Classmates not recognizing birthday
Wednesday's my girl's birthday.. and some other girl's birthday too in the grade. Anyway, other girls all gave cakes and gifts to that other girl, and I guess mine didn't get any. This saturday, she's having a family birthday party, but that other girl is having a buffet party with the other girls...
Confusing read, but maybe not as confusing as I think.
She's feeling kinda down right now. I guess it's hard to keep her mind off of comparing.
What can I do to help?

Re: Classmates not recognizing birthday
Tell her that it's not that she's ugly or stupid, but it's that the other girl is just so much hotter and smarter?
Gah, what the fuck can you do? Tell her that it doesn't matter, people are assholes, and that she should have put up posters like the other bitch.

Re: Classmates not recognizing birthday
......orrr. do something special for her yourself. work it around the family thing if you have to. it doesn't have to be big or fancy or expensive, she just has to feel like someone cares about her.

Re: Classmates not recognizing birthday
Yeah, but that won't make her think everyone else likes her.
Sadly, that's something you can't fix without a very large gun.

Re: Classmates not recognizing birthday
my birthday is on thursday and no one in my dorm suite is even going to be there
and today every one of them went out together shopping, and even tho i was in the room when they were making plans, no one asked if i wanted to go with them.
i feel very left out and was crying on my boyfriend's shoulder about it just a little while ago. he said he likes me and stuff like that, but really, there is nothing anyone can do.
same thing for your girl probably too.

Were you talking to the other girls/expressing interest in their plans? Or were you just in the same room as them?

Re: Classmates not recognizing birthday
Birthdays are what people want to make of them. Some people will make huge plans and invite loads of people etc.. they get noticed. If the person who's bday it is doesn't really care, like it is with most of my friends atm, then nobody does any big celebration..

qft
For my 18th birthday, I spent the night before out with friends. The night of my birthday though, I was in bed by 11 and probably stayed up on Totse all night.
It's just a birthday.

You have to do something special for her! Reassure her, cause that left out feeling is horrible.

i don't think that's really the issue. it's probably just watching the other girl have her birthday made such a big deal of and knowing that she's just going home to dinner with her family (not that it's a bad thing).
if he just does something nice that's very obviously for her, because of her birthday, then it won't matter. trust me. yeah the other girl PLANNED a big party and invited people and pushed her birthday in their faces, but this girl will know that he planned something for her because she's special and because HE wanted to.

Re: Classmates not recognizing birthday
Why don't you get a buncha people together and throw a party for her around her Birthday? Like a day before the other girls buffet or a day after or the same day.

Sorry for not mentioning, this is a long distance relationship.

Re: Classmates not recognizing birthday
Send her something nice, something special that you know she'll love and mail it to her? Since it's long distance I'm assuming one of you moved away, so was it her? Because if she's new to a school/area it can be really hard to find your 'niche' especially when everyone else has had years to find theirs.
