Attempting at another friendship (and topic)
I've posted this awhile ago but I thought I'd try again to get more responses and because there's a slight update if anyone remembers...
I was friends with this one girl in eighth grade. Slowly I began to like her but like a lot of people, my feelings weren't reciprocated. Then around the end of the school year was when I thought our friendship was strongest but in fact was the downfall of it. We hung out a lot, talked on AIM and all of that stuff. It really seemed like we were good friends. But I guess I had been too clingy in our friendship and one day during the summer she just told me to fuck off. Just like that. Blocked me that night. It should have been easily to forget about her. But it took me months to do that. And telling me to fuck off during the summer was the best time to do it; we were going to separate high schools so contact with her would be quite rare.
Apparently not. After one year of being over her and absolutely no contact with her, I get word that she's going to my school. Well, at this point I was pretty sure I would just avoid her and it would be just that. But... now she's been making friends with a lot of MY friends and I've been seeing her more often at school. As I've never been in a situation like this before, I don't know what to do. Personally I would want to try again at a friendship because I know where I went wrong last time and I want to show that I'm not like that now. I'm not sure how she would react, though... she might be like how I met her... or that snotty bitch like she was when she cut off our friendship.
Should I put behind our past experiences and try a new slate or should I just let things be and continue to ignore her like I have been doing? And if I were to attempt to talk to her, should I try over myspace or should I try in real life (though I'm not in a position to talk to her most times I see her)?
Thanks.

Re: Attempting at another friendship (and topic)
You don't have to completely ignore her, but i'd be hesitant about getting close. From the sounds of it, I'd say that the best thing to do is just be civil with her and keep things limited to small talk.
There shouldn't be a problem with the two of you having mutual friends, or even seeing eachother with that group of friends outside of school. Don't get your hopes up to re-kindle the previous relationship, though. Friendship or otherwise.

Just tell her you want to be friends and that you want to wipe the slate clean. How difficult is that?

Nice and straightfoward... although for some reason I have this odd thing against doing similar things like that... but what the hell, I'll try it. Thanks.
