well, i know that when you take antibiotics they have the chance of decreasing the effectiveness of birth control pills. my question is how long are you supposed to wait after you stop taking the antibiotics do you have to wait? i see online sites that say a week but idk if that is long enough. i usually go 2 weeks and i haven't had any issues, but i dont know if that is just dumb luck.

A week sounds about right. Nothing wrong with waiting longer. All that needs to happen during that week is, the antibiotic leaves your body which doesnt take too long and the birth control to be fully operational again.

well, i was giving info i have heard or done, but i want to know if what i am doing is good or if i am just getting lucky by not gettin preggo. and i figured there are enough women in s&a that probably have the answer.

I'd assume it depended on the type of birth control, really...

I'd say two weeks is fine, though. It has my seal of approval.

Doctors say seven days. Little over a week should satisy even the paranoid.

Yeah, and apparently st. john's wort also fucks with hormonal contraception..

a week should be good, they just need to get out of your system. just use a backup method if you're worried.
