IUD
I don't like birth control pills because how they fuck with my system and my boyfriend offered to pay for my IUD. I've read up the pros and the cons, but here's the deal:
No. 1: I hear conflicting stories. Half the girls I talk to say that it was awful and they had to get it removed and half say that it's awesome and they can't even feel it. And if it's awful then it would be a real fucking hassle if all that money had to get spent just for me to have a lot of pain and then have to pay to get it removed...
No. 2: If he pays for my IUD and we break up and I fuck someone else it would be like fucking them with his IUD or something. Which is wierd. But, I don't have the money to pay for it.
I need feedback. Lots of feedback.
Cheers,
Lost

Re: IUD
That's what we used, from after baby was born to about a month ago. No condom or anything usually.
It worked great, at first. Then it caused an infection, and was preventing it from going away. So she had to get it taken out. Was good for a year before problems arose.
Haha... fuck.

Would you say it was worth how much you paid? Was she in a lot of pain?

Her dad is military, so it was free. Not sure how much it costs, honestly..
And pain.. she said it was like a rough pinch when it was inserted, hurt her a bit, but was over very quickly and after that she was fine. Never hurt her again until it came time to take it out. Hurt more then because the area was all infected or whatever, but still not nearly as bad as.. well, most things.
She also has ZERO pain tolerance.

Re: IUD
I've known lots of women who used them and only one ever had problems and I suspect that one woman made up her problems because she wanted to get pregnant again.:/
And that's dumb to worry about it being "his" IUD just because he paid for it. I mean it's YOUR IUD, because it prevents YOU from getting pregnant and it's in YOUR body.

Re: IUD
ive heard that in some places the IUDs are made from copper (used to be anyway) but there shouldnt be many problems as long as the IUD is polyester (or similar) and the doctor has a good reputation.
btw it's not like youre boyfriend could ask for the IUD back anyway... though it would be funny if a husband paid for his wife's IUD and demanded it back when they divorced.

Re: IUD
My girlfriend had one, and it was very painful for her and she had to have it removed. It was something to do with the shape of her cervix or something that caused it to be painful.

Re: IUD
Yeah, I'd trust a bunch of people I don't really know, on the internet no less, with a decision that's so important as opposed to asking a gynecologist and finding out from him/her...
For the record, the IUD is the most widely used birth control method, as well as the least understood. I suggest it to all of my patients, as it's, all around, the best.

An Improvised Uterine Device. They're cheap and deadly. Our boys in Iraq are having a hell of a time with them.

Re: IUD
What's worse:
The hassle of getting pregnant and either having the kid or getting an abortion, using a condom, which you said doesn't work for you guys, or getting something that might cause a few problems but no permanent damage, and will keep you from getting pregnant?
I'm getting one as soon as I get my insurance stuff figured out. No second thoughts about it.

Re: IUD
The IUD is probably the most perfect Birthcontrol ever.. I'm just mad that I got an infection from it. I think that it is DEFINITELY worth a try. You can't feel it once it's in. The only drawbacks are that it can mess with your period, and if you're planning on sleeping around.. The IUD acts like a freeway for STDs.
I loved that I could have sex and not worry about rushing for a condom. And it was easy because you didn't have to remember to put it in, or 'take a pill'. It was just in there.
