We haven't been together for 3 months, not very long, but I still feel sick every time I know she is going to see her new boyfriend or see her with him. I am sick of this shitty feeling, and I want to know how to kick it. Is there anything specific?

I am pretty sure this is a futile question and get responses like take your mind off of it with something I enjoy. But I am just using my options I guess.

keep yourself busy. If you work, try to work as much as possible. When I broke up with someone, the more I worked and kept myself occupied with something else the less I thought about them.

The easiest way to get over someone is to move to a different city, but that isnt always possible. I moved 2 states away for school a month after and I had basically forgotten about them.

It takes me forever to forget, but that's the only cure. Eventually your life will change, and that person won't matter anymore. They have to attain that state of irrelevancy in your mind. I can offer some advice though. Travel. Go somewhere for a weekend. Visit a new country for a few weeks. It's expensive, but it's so worth it. If you can't do that, just pick up a new hobby.

Keep your mind occupied on something else, weather(sp?) it be another person or an object. Such as work or a hobby. The hard feelings will fade in time. The best payback is making yourself better.

There's only two things that I have found that do the job - and I'm afraid they're not going to be too much help to you I'm afraid.

1.] Time. I've found that a broken heart is a lot like quitting heroin in a couple of ways - I've had both, so I speak from experience here.

They both are painful - though quitting heroin is more painful, physically, if you quit cold turkey. Both keeps you from going about your daily routine without a lot of effort.

They both take a long time to get over. Notice I said get over and not get rid of. That's because both are with you - more or less - the rest of your life. But after a certain amount of time they both fade into the background of your mind allowing you to almost forget you have it.

The amount of time it takes to get where you can move on and get one with your life obviously is different for each person. But I can tell you that it will be longer than you hope or want, but shorter than you expect.

The other way to get over your ex is:

2.] Get another GF. If you do, it is still going to take time to get over the ex, just not as much time as it would without a new GF.

I find that driving around with loud ass music while honking and waving at every relatively attractive female helps best.

i have found music to be one of the more powerful things in cultures. It can make you feel just about anything. It can do wonders

What i have found that works the best for me. Is happy music in that state. Keep your mind occupied, most definatly. It can be hard when the other person listens to the same music. You remember them, it hurts. But at the same time you can try and let the music just take you. And happiness collides with those hurt feelings. They fade unless you always get more feeling from the person.

If you really don't want to get over the person, it happens, i've been there. Listen to sad music.

Cut them out of your life completely.

Delete their phone number, block and delete on MSN if they have it, NEVER speak about them. Pretend you never knew them. If anyone mentions them, pretend you don't know who they're talking about. If that isn't going to work, just ignore it and change the subject.

Works for me. Though when I told a psychotherapist about it she told me it was "emotionally unhealthy". But we all know they talk bollocks anyway .

It took me moving away... Finding a new girl.. that sorta helped... never did get a real closure on it... only thing that could ever really bring me down is her. fucked up...

Well it sounds retarded, but I was totall hung up over my ex and her new boyfriend until I read some of their myspace comments. They sounded -really- happy together... Well, she did anyway. I can't really explain how it helped, it just kind of forced me to move on. I stopped hoping she would fall back in love with me. Well, I hope less nowadays anyway.

I disagree with finding comfort in the arms of other women. If you really connected with your girl then I seriously doubt any physical relations with someone new will make you feel better unless you actually care about them. Rather, it might very well make you feel a shitload worse. However, it is nice to flirt occasionally with randoms just as a kind of validation, to let you know there are other girls out there that find you interesting, plenty more fish in the sea, all that bs.

Go out with your friends as much as possible, get fucked up or not, whatever, its all good. Just meet new people, try new things. Try vandalising shit, random acts of violence on private or public property can make you feel so alive, specially in the company of your favourite amigos. IMO anyway.

Anyway good luck dude, just remember that youre hot shit. You have to KNOW that you are hot shit, whether or not shes interested in you anymore is irrelevant. Just know youre awesome within yourself.

She lives on the floor above me in a dorm, so I am bound to run into her, sucks. And fucking room-mate has to tell me about it every time he sees her or anything. Basturd! I think he is just encouraging me to get out there.

As for drinking, it ain't an option, medication, and I don't like that much anyway. I love to get high though. And I am focussing on other things such as school and working out for the first times in years.
