Smoking
Do girls find guys who smoke cigarettes unattractive? Personally I wouldn't mind if a girl smokes as long as if it isn't before kissing or anything like that.

When I found out that girls usually don't like guys who smoke cigarettes, I lost my last inhibitions regarding the habit and went ahead with the cancer-sticks. Fuck those bitches, they can take me or leave me, cigarettes and all.

Re: Smoking
I wouldn't care. I used to smoke for years before I started trying to get pregnant. Then after I got done nursing my daughter, I tried to smoke and I almost DIED from a huge coughing fit. It was at that moment that I realised I was truly doomed to be a non-smoker forever.

Re: Smoking
It's at the least a huge waste of money. They're $4 a pack where I live. I would not date a smoker. The smell is nasty and even worse it lingers in clothing, it's self-destructive, and I suppose it's just unattractive to me. Nasty habit.

Guys look like faggots when they smoke cigarettes...It seems more of a feminine thing to me, although it's a big turn off when I see a girl smoking a cigarette.
Another reason why it's a turn off is because they started smoking in the first place to be cool or look cool. Don't anyone try and say different.

Don't make such stupid comments all the time (yes, I've seen your posts). People start smoking for diffrent reasons, sometimes to look "cool", lot of the time personal reasons. I hate how you post as if your opinion is everyone elses.

Sorry. I dont care whether girls smoke. I think anyone shallow enough to judge someone completely on their choice whether or not to smoke is a complete tool.

Re: Smoking
I smoke, I just tend to stick with people that smoke too, no one I know could give a fuck if someone smoked or not, that's pretty shallow not liking someone because they smoke. My house doesn't smell like cigs, I smoke outside. I do laundry every day, my clothes don't stink, unless you don't eat or drink and just smoke cigs all day then your breath will smell like smoke, but if your a normal person and eat and drink and brush your teeth, it only lasts for about 15-20 minutes. I'm not really condoning it, it's an annoying habbit, but it's not as bad as every one says, accept for the cancer thing and all that

both my boy and i smoke and it doesnt bother us. If I was a non-smoker, i most likely would not want to date a man who smokes. When I had a sore throat once and hadnt smoked for almost a week, my boy came over and I almost vomited smelling the smoke on him...Overall I think smoking is quite disguisting, but still can't manage to quit.

I fucking hate chicks who smoke.
Smoking immediately calls for idiocy.
Smokers = Dumb
And I'm not attracted to dumb girls no matter how hot they are.
It's so ironic when you see a chick who smokes buying diet coke or skim milk or something along the lines.
------------------------------------------
I also hate chicks who overload their face with make-up - and act like they are hot. Like sometimes they do look decent (my friend for example). Guys are all over them. I've seem my friend ONCE with her make up off one morning after a big night... not good.
Seriously tho, whenever a chick acts all snobby whos caked their face with make-up, i just feel so angry.
----------------------------------
Conclusion - I like girls who are clean and natural - and genuine.

I carried a lighter before I started smoking, well I smoked once or twice before I started carrying it. And then I started smoking, now I'm kinda stopping, I don't really like what it does to me(at least smoking on any kind of regular basis) and now I will have a cigarette every once in a while, but rarely.

no, they were all well aware of what the smoking was doing to them. They didn't care. And neither do I. I dont think I could date a girl who was a non-smoker, me being a smoker of both cigarettes and bongs myself.

my statement made perfect sense. People are saying they wouldnt date people who are smokers, I'm saying I'd prefer to date someone who did smoke.
no. I'm not stoned. I'm at work. Yes, that's right. I dont do drugs all day. I work during the day and support myself and my habits, such as drinking and smoking.
Also, I've almost quit cigarettes for the record. I was smoking betwen 1 and a 1/2 and 3 and a 1/2 packets a day, some days more than 4 packs, and i cut down, and now only smoke when I'm extremely stoned or drunk.
You are illogical Byss. anyone who's said "fuck smokers, they're stupid and smelly and I'd never date one" in this thread is, in fact, an idiot.
It's a choice. who cares? are you seriously saying you'd not be with someone you loved just because they smoked?

The usual kidiot illogical thing to do, Garfunkel. Putting words into your oponents mouth. When did I say I wouldn't date, nor associate, with smokers? When did I even hint at that? I didn't. You are just assuming how I should feel because of your own preconceived notions about those that find smoking naive and unhealthy.

Re: Smoking
I've always loved the smell of cigarette smoke. Like when it sticks to a hoodie sweater. It just reminds me of all the people who have been good influences in my life. Yeah, they had one bad habit, but they were such great people that it didn't matter and now I find the smell comforting. I'm now trying to quit or cut back, after 7 years of hard smokin', mostly to save my aweseome (or used to be) singing voice, which is getting all scratchy now.
I'd prefer a woman who smokes. As long as she doesn't do it just to look cool. She would look cool if she didn't have to try. That goes for anything, not just smoking. It doesn't really matter either way, but it's annoying when people bitch about it. Especially fat people.
I was at a show once when this fat straightedge bitch decided to hang outside between sets where all the smokers were. Then she yelled out that "people who smoke want to die". I yelled back that she needs to remember that next time she eats a cheeseburger.

Fuck anyone who smokes cigarettes.
Eh, I'm finding my self agreeing with you more these days.
Smoking is the most shitty, pathetic habit I can think of. It has minimal beneficial/positive effects and a fucking plethora of shitty negative effects.
It stains your teeth, makes you smell like shit, taste like shit, and has a shitty high. Basically, before cigarettes are even good, you have to be addicted to them. So it's basically a need for an addiction.
I look down on smokers HEAPS. Sometimes tobacco is okay, that being when it's being mixed with weed, or when you're rolling (fucked on some other substance) and it feels awesome to smoke.
I'd respect a girl with a bong/crack pipe to her lips more than I'd respect a girl with a cigarette.
I asked a smoker once "why do you smoke", his response "Woah, I don't even know. No one's ever asked me before. I...just do."
Fucking WEAK. People drink to get drunk, smoke weed to get high, take E to roll, and inject heroin to get a rush. But people smoke to 'smoke'. So gay.

Weird. Normally i have a deal of respect for your opinions but that one is just waaaay off beam.
I've never been much of a fan of 'hash' (in all its forms), all it does is make me even more paranoid, pyschotic and aggresive than normal. However a lot of my friends smoke and i don't have a problem with it.
What i DO have a problem with is the near missionary zeal of some hash-heads.
Smoking weed is NOT the best thing since sliced bread, it is NOT a religious act,it in no way makes you a morally 'better' perosn and the chances are you don't function better or drive more safely when you've smoked (i have known a couple of exceptions to the driving comment).
It is a drug. Like all drugs it comes with positives and negatives. It is an emotional crutch, like alcohol or smoking....a sign of weakness perhaps.
I would have no objection to a lover of mine smoking the odd bit of hash now and again. But on a daily basis? No way.

It comes pretty close...

It's not for me, but I'm not exactly a Rastafarian.
quote:Originally posted by jackketch:

I know. The majority of society would actually look down on me for smoking pot. How ever, pot changes my personallity to the point where it DOES make me a better person. I'm calm, collected, and very paranoid. I'd be afraid, or too relaxed, to do anything wrong.
quote:Originally posted by jackketch:

Haha, that'd be me . I'm normally waaaay over the speed limit. When I smoke, I think every taxi, every white car, every station wagon is a cop car. I drive like 15km/h under the speed limit. Like a fucking grandma.
quote:Originally posted by jackketch:

It depends how you use it. You're right how ever.
quote:Originally posted by jackketch:

Didn't you indulge in heroin when you were younger? I can't see how you'd have a problem with weed.
Any way, with all that aside, there are good reasons for smoking. I know this crazy Russian bastard and every time he gets pissed off, he whips out a smoke and calms him self. That, I believe, is the correct use for tobacco.
The reason most people smoke is just weak. They started out socially smoking, then got addicted.
Smoking is tobacco is a filthy habit. Smoking weed is filthy. Smoking crack/meth/smack/etc is filthy. The difference those other filthy things also get you fucking HIGH as a mother fucker.
Maybe I just have a fucked up perspective on the issue. I grew up with irresponsible smoking parents.

I smoke cigarettes. I enjoy it, I may even love it. It keeps me calm, considering I never was, and it keeps me focused. I have something to do with my hands in situations where I'm not in control, and it passes the time when I'm bored, or waiting for a train or whatever.
And you know what? I don't give a flying fuck whether someone else doesn't like it. Fuck you if you don't like the smell. "Oh no! My designer smell can't be smelt now!" Bloody hell, I'm going to do my perfectly legal activity and anyone who doesn't like it can blow me.
And don't give me that crap of "oh but the healthcare system... blah blah blah". Jesus, don't you realise that (this is in Australia btw) the helathcare system would fail if every smoker in Oz quit? Fuck you, I'm paying for your university degree, your healthcare, your schools and playgrounds.
A deck of cigarettes in Australia costs roughly $10 for crap, and $12 for quality. Holy shit! And you know how much of that is tax? About ninty-fucking-percent! So screw you and your self-rightous opinions. I hope you all die from my second-hand smoke.
Alright, having finished that rant, I don't smoke around kids, and I always try to stay downwind of other people.
The moral conservative right can shut the hell up and bitch about something that is actually important. Oh and I prefer my women to smoke.

Yea, and I can pass time by cutting myself too in situations that I don't have control over...
Smoking is just disgusting. Marijuana smoke doesn't leave a disgusting residue on your walls, turn them yellow, or make you smell. You might smell like marijuana for a little while, but the smoke fades quickly, unlike cigarette smoke.
The point is there is no reason behind why people smoke cigarettes except to appear cool to other people who smoke cigarettes. I find them lame, and a waste of money. However if someone wants to get their ass addicted to the, it's not my business.
What is my business though is if I want to date them.

Yeah, but the situations I don't have control over are when I'm working crowd control in a pub. It gives you something to do when some huge idiot is trying to have a go at you. Calmly lighting a cigarette shows indifference, which more often then not can lower the tension. On top of that it makes an excellent weapon (ever been burnt by a cigarette? It fucking hurts). And it's the only way to get breaks working corporate security.
As for addiction, it's all a state of mind. Prior to it becoming public knowledge that smoking was bad for you and addictive, people quit in much higher numbers with less fuss then is currently seen. However, people are now told that 'smoking is addictive' so they create this illusion that they are addicted. I've smoked for years, yet I can still go weeks without smoking and not feel any worse off for it.
You can call them lame all you like, personally I think people who hang out all day waiting to get high are lame, but I'm not gonna bust their chops over it.
You can not date someone who smokes, and no one will hold it against you. You don't like the smell, yeah I can understand, in the same way that I'm not turned on by someone who has bad body odour. I ride a motorbike, so anytime I arrive somewhere, I don't smell like smoke, I smell like exhaust

Re: Smoking
Having a cigarette in your mouth while trying to work security in a pub I think is the last thing you want to do, calmly lighting a cigarette when a guy gets rowdy?
This isn't a movie, and that alone makes me think you smoke to appear cool. Not everyone who smokes weed counts the seconds until they can get high.
Yes I have been burned by a cigarette, have you ever been lighting a cigarette and have someone tackle you, only to have the lit thing fall into your eye? Yea, I wouldn't want it to happen to me either. Not saying that has happend to me, just a possible scenario.
Addiction a state of mind? Are you kidding me? Do you know what the difference is between psychological and physical addiction? Cigarettes give both, nicotene your physical addiction and as for your psychological addiction, the way it makes you think you appear, cool.
People want to look cool, and whats cooler then asking a girl, hey got a cigarette I can bum? Oh, here's a light, of course I have a cigarette you can have. It's all about social interaction and it's a good ice breaker, however smokers to me are nasty.

Don't give me that crap mate. I know my job. The place I work at is a well respected venue, and on the door all you have to do is turn away people who have had a bit too much drink and want to come in. We don't have any pill-poppers or shit like that. I'm usually one of the youngest people in the whole place, because it's most frequented by people in their mid 30s to mid 40s.
Lighting a cigarette shows you have control of the situation, it says "look, I'm in control enough to light up". And while we're at it, 1) you don't live in Australia, so you can't comment on how people here act at pubs, and 2) you don't work security, so you can't comment on how you think I should be doing my job. So this point of discussion is now closed.
As for the matter of addiction, yes there are two types of addiction, however, physical addiction is reliant on your bodies need for nicotine. Now nicotine stays in the system for up to 24 hours. After that, no nicotine. Ever heard of the 3-day bump? It's when someone who has quit suddenly feels their body scream out for nicotine. But as a physical addiction nicotine is comparatively easy to break. Your point on psychological addiction simply reinforces my previous point, that people have now been led to believe that they are more addicted then they really are.
However it is more interesting to observe people who become easily addicted to substances try and quit cigarettes. Kind of like watching people go from 10 cups of coffee a day to none. So glad I don't have those problems.
As for social interaction which you mentioned, I totally agree. You never meet a smoker who doesn't want to talk to another smoker about all those oppressive bastards that bitch about them smoking, and this can work between members of the opposite sex with large degrees of success.

^So does pedofilia, but you don't see them throwing the excriment of children they've raped at me, now do you?
Except smokers feel the need to blow smoke in my face, and that pisses me off. No, not everyone does that, and yes it happens a lot more than you are going to admit.
How do you know I have never worked security? You really think that you lighting up a cigarette is going to deter a drunkard from trying to fight? You think psychologically intimidation is going to work against someone drunk?
No, I don't live in Australia, but I am positive that bars here are exactly the same as any place in the world. There are guys, they get drunk, and they get rough. That happens everywhere man, you aren't special. You especially aren't special by lighting up a cigarette in the middle of a fight.
I would actually call you stupid for doing so, but that is just me. Why don't you paint your toenails to show you have control of the situation while your at it?
Eh? Your excuses for smoking are pretty weak, just like the arguement that smoking is a lifestyle choice, and that judging it is wrong. Even though people in this forum receive tons of criticisms for their lifestyle choices.

Re: Smoking
Shit, I shouldn't have taken my contacts out, I can hardly see the keyboard, let alone the screen. Anyway...
Blowing smoke in your face? *sigh* I think probably would too. However, under normal circumstances I make every possible attempt to keep my smoke away from people, I'll walk to the other end of the train station. But if some idiot wants to come and stand next to me, then that's their own fault. As for pubs, pffft, people smoke there, it's a fact of life, so you can't get bitter about that.
True, I don't know if you've ever worked security, but I'm willing to bet that you haven't, it's not exactly the kind of thing everyone aspires too. It's the most pointlessly boring kind of work there is.
The point I was trying to make about Australia is that over here, people don't tend to fight to get into pubs. I mean, I don't know what you do where you go. Maybe you think it's a good idea to pick a fight with the guy at the door. You know, then if you get inside you can not be served anything.
You think I'm insane? Of course I'm not going to be smoking a bloody cigarette if I'm in a fight, or if it's looking like there will be one. But contrary to popular belief, crowd controllers don't get into many fights, except when ejecting people, and you use restraints to remove them. People don't try and fight the doorman when trying to get in. They usually ask to go in, and when I point out they may have had about 8 beers too many to enter, they usually kick up a bit of a fuss, asking if I'm on a power trip or whatever. Jeeze, I don't go looking to start fights, I'd lose my security licences.
I don't need to make excuses for smoking. It's something I do, and you can wish me to hell for all I care. But it's something I enjoy doing, and I don't see why you should begrudge me my enjoyment, or anyone elses enjoyment for that reason. I certainly don't have any issues with you enjoying your vices.

You [the antismoker] are the one starting the arguments. Smoking is a lifestyle choice, you dolt. I can't beleive even you tried to say it isn. People in this forum receive criticism all the time for making stupid generalisations based on lifestyle, so I don't know why you are pointing out the converse which is equally obvious.
My previous point was, as bad as non smokers make smoking out to be... only they seem to have a real problem with it. I think they're jealous, or maybe just really stupid.

Re: Smoking
Carbon, I've worked security...a lot.High end stuff/bodyguarding as well as bars and clubs.
If i thought i was going to regretfully have to use physical force then i would always try and have a lit ciggy in my hand.
Only the really well trained, or the downright psychotic, will be able to ignore a lit ciggy thrown/flicked at their eyes. The normal reaction is to ward it off , close your eyes etc etc.
And that split second of distraction is all a good sec-man needs.

Re: Smoking
^Lol, we have all seen the movie Road House people. I know that security guys avoid fights, and security is actually decent pay.
Now I am not saying I have worked security at rowdy places, I haven't. Although I have at hotels, and I have had to deal with drunks, and it is easy to persuade them to leave when you are sober and they aren't.
Patience is a virtue, and all I am saying is that I realize smoking is a lifestyle choice. However why would you say non smokers are jealous of smokers? You stink, I don't. Your fingers are yellow, mine aren't. Your teeth are yellow, mine aren't. Your breath stinks, mine doesn't. Your clothes smell, mine don't.
Just because you do laundry does not mean that you are not going to smell like smoke, it is a very distinctive smell and easy to pick up on anyone, no matter how much they try to cover it up.
It's a disgusting habit, and if the excuse "to pass time" is the only thing you can come up with, then that's the excuse you will use. I just don't feel ends justify the means.

What the fuck??
Why do you care if other people smoke, carbonb??
I personally don't smoke anymore, but I don't hate people who do. The only time it really bothers me is when people smoke in the house around their kids and when pregnant women smoke.
I wouldn't let someone smoke in my house, but I'm not gonna be a dick if they want to go outside.

Another reason why it's a turn off is because they started smoking in the first place to be cool or look cool. Don't anyone try and say different.
I started smoking because I wanted to commit slow suicide; that plan failed when I went for a full on attempt 2 months ago; 36mg xanax (adjusted from 30 when I realized I had munched down 3 bars prior to eating my stash) and 14 drinks.
Now though, it's the last major vice I'm holding on to right now. I hate smoking...but there's a lot of change going on in my life, so I need to wait for things to get settled before I take on another set of stress.
Edit: The 'change' going on is post-acute withdrawals from benzos, booze, heroin, and crack.

I agree. I don't like smoke in the house and i smoke 60 roll ups a day! Stale smoke smells disgusting and Carbon is right about the teeth and fingers too!
Me and my kids go outside to smoke. Always have done because the wife/mommy is a rabid non-smoker (yeah two of my kids are heavy smokers, the 15 and the 17 year olds).
Xiao, btw my mother-in-law considers smoking a sure sign that i am demonically possessed!

So gay.
point of interest bro.. you do realise that weed smells just as bad and is just as bad for your lungs if smoked in the same quantity?
also, I could argue that I do get a small rush/stress reliever from ciggies. Why do you think I used to go through between 1 and a half and 4 packets a day? I was thoroughly depressed. but in your post, it sounds like you think you'd rather I go an hit a crack pipe instead?
maybe I've misunderstood you dude, or maybe we just have a difference of opinion for once. one way or the other..
I think we both need a billie.

Oh and one other bit I feel I should point out in relation to second hand smoke. The smoke someone breathes out isn't that bad, on account of the fact that it was been filtered through the filter on the cigarette and the persons lungs. The smoke that you should be worried about is the smoke coming from the end of the cigarette.

Fat people get laid all of the time, this is a fact. I don't care if you say I am fat, although I think the majority of women who don't smoke do not want to be with a guy who smokes.
The same applies to me, I don't have anything against smokers, the original question was whether or not you would date someone who smoked. I said no, and people went ape shit about judging someone because they smoked.
Well you say fuck my nose, and fuck what I think about a smoker, then fuck you, I don't have to date you, if you are free to smoke, then I am free to say fuck you and get the fuck out of my face.
Typical Carbon? Don't act like you know me asshole, you are just some dumb bitch who solidified the fact that you think you are "cool" because you smoke.

QFT
Unless the smoke is bothering you (being blown into your face) or you smoke around kids (douchebags) then get off your moral high horse.
on top of that i don't want to hear anyone who does not or has not smoked cigarettes, emphasis on the plural, one drag or one smoke when you were 14 doesn't count, tell me that smoking doesn't do anything. I used to smoke when i was stressed out and it would calm me down enough to get my shit done, and it made me look oh my gaw so cool!!1!1ONE1!
to the person who said that it made more sense to use pot/coke/meth/crank whatever than cigarettes you're making a tremendous leap of logic. Does coke fuck you up more than cigs, of course it does. Of course coke is also significantly more harmful per use, as is pot (worse for your lungs than a similar amount of tobacco), meth, crank, etc. etc.
more to the point it's not your life, it's not hurting you so keep your fucking mouth shut, stop telling smokers, "you know that's bad for you right?" like it's fucking 1910 and no one knows the harmful effects of cigarettes or any other mind altering substance.
to answer the OP's question, i would not have a problem dating someone who smokes as long as they didn't smoke excessively, smoking is an indulgence not a habit. I wouldn't have a problem being sexually involved with a person who smokes any amount because i'm not going to have to deal with their nicotine addiction.
for the record i have smoked, would consider myself a smoker of cigarettes, but do not smoke because bicycling and smoking are mutually exclusive hobbies

Fuuuuuck you!
If I can smell your smoke, then it's going into my lungs. If it's going into my lungs it's shortening my life expectency. So fuck you in saying it's not hurting me.
Smoking is fine, as long as I dont need to smell that shit.
The only time I'm okay with breathing in second hand smoke is when I'm in a smokers car or house. I could NOT expect them to not smoke around me in their own car/house.
I like that they're making clubs/pubs smoke free. That means I wont come home with my clothes smelling like absolute dog shit, not to mention my hair.

hmmm i don't think anyone should have to breath my smoke but taking your arguments to their logical conclusion would mean you would never be morally able to drive a petrol/diesel car.
Remember that only about a 1/3 of cases of lung cancer are attributable to smoking (passive or active). Anyone care to guess what causes the other 60%? *hint* benzol* hint*
(don't get anal about the exact percentages please, it's been a while since i looked and figures go up and down all the time).

Realistically, I could stop driving a car. But then, when I walked/rode my bike, I'd still be breathing in the emisions of the roads I travelled.
How ever, cigarette smoke IS something I can realistically eliminate from my lungs.
I don't mind doing damage to my own body, it's mine to fuck with. So if I feel the need to smoke, awesome. Sure it'd be mighty hypocritical of me to smoke a cigarette then yell at people smoking around me/in my car, but that's how it is. I can do that.

Personally, I don't drink, smoke or do drugs. I don't even drink coffee. When I want to have a good time, I like to be lucid, in control and not killing myself in the process. I see them all as bad habits.
That said, I don't judge other people just because they do those things, as long as they do it with a degree of responsibility, eg. Don't drink and drive, Go outside to smoke, etc. I know people who do all those things, and as long as they don't do it around me, I don't have a problem with it. It's their bodies and they can do what they want to them.
I couldn't have a girlfriend who smoked or used drugs. I could ignore the drinking if it was in moderation, as long as she didn't get smashed all the time.
And for the record, I'm 16 and a half, and not religious, so I formed all my opinions on my own, I wasn't told what to think.

Uh, if you couldn't sense the ironic/sarcastic tone when I wrote "blacken my lungs for pure joy & coolness", you're a fucking idiot. Since I have to spell it out for you: It's absurd to assume that anyone over the age of 13 would keep up a serious smoking habit just to be viewed as "possibly cool"-to-"mildly cool" by a small percentage of the population, when you can feel the effects of the tobacco slowly destroying your body every step of the way, and all the other minor hassles it creates. Chronic old-man cough, hacking up weird-colored shit in the sink every morning, standing hunched over against a thunderstorm flicking my lighter 500 times in a row, searching through my ashtrays at 4am so I get a measly 3 drags from some stale week-old half-smoked butt that just makes me want to steal my roommates' spare change.....Yeah man, it makes me feel SO cool and rebellious and sophisticated and shit.
Yes, I'm aware that there are many dipshits alive today who care about meaningless shit like status to the exclusion of all else, but in today's increasingly anti-smoking climate, non-smokers are considered cooler & more attractive anyway. This thread is a good example.

Actually, it's not. Even heavy smoking doesn't cause lung cancer; it merely increases the likelihood of developing it. "That's bad enough!" you say, but just smelling it doesn't mean you're inhaling enough to do anything. You'd have to be in a close roomed with a heavy smoker to get an appreciable amount of secondhand smoke; just a whiff in a bus or something isn't gonna hurt you.

^WRONG^. I started smoking when I was about 15. I didn't do it to look cool, or be cool, I smoked my first cigarette out of sheer curiousity. I picked up the habit from there because of the extreme relaxation I felt, I was very depressed at the time and it provided some stress relief. What I didn't know being that young was that after awhile that the effect wouldn't be as good and how addictive they really are.
Don't try and act like you know with complete confidence what motivates people to do the things they do, especially when you probally haven't done it yourself. Even if you have, everyone has their reasons, and you can only relate to your own. So if you are a smoker then you're the one who did it to look cool or "be" cool.

I smoke, and I don't really care if my woman smokes, although I've never dated a smoker. I find it a turn off if the girl is really maggoty about it, though, like if they never have their own smokes, or always pretend they need on or they'll die.
Out of respect, I used to take smoking real easy around girls, especially ones I was close to, whether I knew if they did/didn't mind or not.
I've also noticed a lot of girls that I've been close to like to watch me smoke. One of my ex-girlfriends came to visit me one night and we went for a drive and I was watching her out of the corner of my eye as I drove, and I can't even really explain the look she had on, I could just tell I was being watched like some kind of hero she thought was obvlivious to her gaze.
I know another girl who thinks smoke rings and other exhalation techniques are sexy, but regular smoking is so-so.

for the 99th post in this thread, I'm going to finish the argument.
Smoking makes you look and feel fucking cool. I know the rest of you have employed some theory of eternal life because you've made the decision not to smoke, let me just be the first to "POP" that fucking bubble, you're dead too. I delight in telling my brothers things they dont know. Non smokers die... Every day. Sleep tight.
More importantly I must ask you all, what business is it of yours what I say, do, think, hear, read, who I fuck, what I take into my body... as long as I dont harm another human being on this planet while doing it?
Stolen from Bill Hicks, but my point still stands.
Non-smokers just ain't cool.

Why is their face set that way do you suppose?

I'm glad to see that. People often fail to view arguments from both sides, and I'm glad you are able to appreciate an alternative point of view. In a rather ironic twist, I'm currently after a girl who doesn't smoke, and it's wierd to say the least.

the only, and im serious about it being the only argument my wife and i have is over my smoking, she hates it and wants me to quit,if she knows ive been smoking she wont even sleep in the same room with me,but her reasoning behind wanting me to stop are sound, she loves me and want to grow old with me and watch our grandkids grow up..and if i continue to smoke..that might not happen, she feels that if im serious about our marriage and all our plans then i should be as concerned about the smoking as she is.....but she has never smoked so dosent realize how hard it is to quit after smoking for 20 years, and she dosent care

Yeah, I've heard a lot of people say that too. Actualy, I feel slightly less distinctly high when I have a cigarette after toking, but overall more relaxed. Plus being high makes every cigarette taste/feel a lot better, so I always have a cigarette after blazing.
Most people I know who smoke started off doing it while drinking/getting high as an occasional thing, simply because it feels really good to smoke when you're bleared out of your skull. Not as some half-assed attempt at 'cool'.
Personally, I started because my first girlfriend smoked all the time, and so did all her friends...I was around it so much that I eventually just gave in to the temptation, and discovered that it was pretty enjoyable to do once in awhile. How 'once in awhile' turned into 'a pack a day' I'll never know -- but I do know that nothing can touch the chill glory of the post-coital cigarette.

Re: Smoking
People that smoke compulsively demonstrate a lack of character in the same way alcoholics do. They can't control a habit they know is hurting them. It isn't good for you. You are shortening your life span. Even if the likelihood of getting cancer is still relatively low, just look at all the other diseases you are likely to develop, especially as you get older.
Also, don't give me that "It was relaxing when I had *such and such problem*". Fuck off, plenty of people got over depression, family death, being crippled, etc. without having to turn to a life-shortening vice.
So in conclusion, it's a disgusting habit that shortens life spans and smells terrible to non-smokers(which is the majority). Do you all deserve to be thrown in jail and tortured to death? No. Do I have to respect you as a human being despite your character flaws? No. So you can all shut the fuck up.

Stressed out? What the fuck makes you think that if you went 20 years without smoking, that stress was the reason you started smoking? You are a fucking moron, and you are even too stupid to look at your logic and realize this fact.
Shut the fuck up, you do smoke to look cool, probably because you got a job, some girl smokes that you think looks good, and started smoking to be able to spend some quality "chit chat" time with her.
You're a fucking punk, a punk who is under the boot of people that tell you what you think you need to hear. A weak individual who crutches himself on the trends of society. Well I say fuck you, and if I ever see you I am going to kick you right in the junk, you asshole!

Re: Smoking
Ladies and gentlemen. i have read every post in this thread. And from my own personal perspective, I have come to this conclusion: most of the non-smokers in this thread, are agressive fucktards who jump at a chance to prove their `superiority` (sp?) of being able to live longer, who jump at conclusions with no evidence whatsoever ( quote:`smokers = dumb`, `people start smoking only to be cool`,), who make personal attacks ( quote:Man fuck you, too much time on our hands? What the fuck are you babbling about you dumb bitch?, quote:Anyone here on totse talking shit about me not liking fucking smokers can suck a dick, because I know god damn well that you fuckers judge girls on their looks, and not to get to "know" someone based on their looks is just a faggoty thing to do...WAAAAH!), and who in the end resolve to such low tactics to prove that they are right, as pointing out spelling errors ( quote:What the fuck is a gask mask?). I also notice CarbonB offending everybody who smokes, which targets one hell of a lot of people. Including political leaders, scientists, inventors, and so on and so forth.
While smokers on the other hand, give rational explanations for their reasons to smoke, and show their understanding of the situation (sped up death).
CarbonB, let me present the following scenario to you. You are sitting in the park enjoying `fresh` nicotine-free air, when a really hot girl comes up and sits next to you. She is the hottest thing you have ever seen in your entire life. You get to talking, and also find out that she is also one of the most enlightened and intelligent beings which you have met. You spend the next couple of days together, and she gives you the fucking of your life. You understand that you can quite possibly spend the rest of your life with this woman, that her knowledge of the world will greatly benefit you in many ways, and that you will have as much glorious sex with her as you want.
But the next morning you see her outside on your balcony, smoking a marlboro. What do you do?
Before you start insulting billions of people, why dont you go down the road yourself, and find out the truth about smoking for yourself. And by saying `walk down the road` I dont mean go to a night-shop and buy a pack of cigarettes. I actually mean go through the hardships that these people have faced, of losing your family, your job, posessions, bodily limbs, of having insomnia, chronic stress, mentallity dis-orders and all the other shit that goes on in the everyday world. And after you have felt that feeling of negativity, light up a cigarette. And realise that after all the shit which you have been through, a cigarette can bring bliss to a human mind, if only for a few minutes.
Not everybody`s life is as perfect as yours, CarbonB, and that goes for any other non-smokers out there who insult, and look down on this `death-inducing habbit`.
As for staying healthy... I knew a woman in Australia, who would only eat organic foods, and run for an hour down a beach every morning. She died a few years ago, from liver cancer. Woman was in her 30`s.
As for me, I dont think Im going to be doing anything too productive when im 50, if I even make it that far with my current lifestyle. Personally, I dont even think the world as we know it today will make it that far, if we keep having ignorant fucks like CarbonB popping up and insulting anybody who comes across, while pumping out Co2 out of his trailer-truck into the `nice clean healthy cancer-free fresh air!`.

Re: Smoking
I\'m a smoker, so naturally I prefer someone who smokes, so I don\'t have to go through the extra hassle of smoking outside, bathing in cologne, or eating a pack and a half of altoids a day.
Besides, if a girl can\'t suck on a cig, or a bong, then how the hell is she susposed to get me off? Non smoking girls just don\'t have the suction power that smokers do...

I'm sorry, but you are a dumbass. The perfect match with me, would be just that, the perfect match. Meaning she wouldn't smoke. Secondly the hardships of smokers? Buddy how the fuck are you going to sit there and tell me what I have and haven't experienced?
Just because a smoker has gone through loss in the family, DOES NOT MEAN a non-smoker has no experienced the same thing. The only difference is the smoker claims to smoke due to "stress", where as the non-smoker mans the fuck up and deals with his problems.
You are a dumbass, I would break it off with the girl, that is if she didn't give up smoking. This is my life, and I have choices. You think she is the hottest piece of ass left on this planet? I don't give a fuck if she is the best looking thing I've seen, I've already fucked her, and now that the materialistic part of the relationship is out of the way, I am going to go find a girl who can co-exsist with me.
Too bad your dipshit self doesn't realize that if you can't live with the person it doesn't matter how good they look, or how much you have in common. I couldn't live with a smoker, so her ass ='s kicked to the curb.
Now sit down fag.

What if you're the guy I was talking about and I'm the girl you're talking about??
Haha, that'd be perfect. I do hope you get your girl though!

Hehe, yeah I thought about that, but then I realised you probably don't live in Australia.
And for CarbonB, mate you've been rehashing the same rubbish the whole time. Take a page out of the smokers books. You notice that we don't have a problem with non-smokers (well except for those who believe they are the be all and end all or perfection). You can't suggest that someones character is less because they make the decision to smoke. And while we're at it, chill out son. You're rapidly becoming an angry young man with his heart in his hand.

I'm guessing you aren't too smart huh? Reading through your lame fucking excuses I find at the bottom of it one dumb motherfucker.
No money? A baby on the way? Well way to go buying a pack of fucking cigarettes you dumb bitch. Yea, just spend that money that could go towards something useful on something not necessary. Oh, but it's alright because you are stressed out because you're a fucking loser.
That isn't my problem, your choices effect your life, if you were going to whine about a fucking kid maybe you should of wrapped your dick up before you fucked your skanky girl.
Now go cry in the corner your handicapped bitch.

People get in my car, look around and are like "why have you got scissors, a little bowl and foil?"
Naive people.

Re: Smoking
Just had a thought, and I had it while smoking. Why does smoking relax someone? In the same way that counting to 10 slowly does. Except with a cigarette it lasts for about 7 minutes. It allows for time to sit back and reflect on things, re-evaluate how things are going.
It's a private moment, even if you're in a room full of people.

Re: Smoking
^ If we're talking in a technical sense, it's because smoking reduces the oxygen to the brain which is what produces the "buzz".

Re: Smoking
And it reduces the oxygen because the carbon monoxide limits the bloods ability to transport oxygen around the body, which includes the brain.
And I don't ge the buzz anymore That has been relegated to better times gone past.

I dont like to smoke with other people, I like to do it in the dark alone, and when I do I reflect on my day.
I dont do it because I think its cool, rather it relaxes me and I enjoy the feeling
