Re: what are the benefits of being in a relationship?
If it's meant to be, and things work out, the pleasures and joys from being with someone you truly love far outweigh the stress and occasional arguments.

Not all relationships involve regular sex, though. You shouldn't go into a relationship just for the sex, or flat-out expecting it every single day.

You're right, of course, however it's a major part of many relationships (as a generalisation).

Re: what are the benefits of being in a relationship?
Its all about the intimate feelings, and emotions and that fun stuff. Sex is a plus, but it doesnt have to be on a regular basis. Actually alot of relationships based on sex turnout to be really effed up in the end. Or someone ends up shitting out a kid, which can be worse.
Overall you get alot of good memories out of a relationship. And when its a happy relationship, you got a sense of security. Knowing that someone is always there for you.
And when the good shit goes sour, remember the good shit that you had. Some people think is worth it to fight out all the stress and obstacles.
The reason why you only hear about the bad shit is because most of the good shit doesnt need to be heard. Yea you took them out to a dinner and a movie and had hot wild sex afterwards. But you rarely hear about when they stayed at home watching a movie, all relaxed and he fell asleep with his head in her lap. Why? Because it sounds meaningless, unless you were there experiencing it. The intimate moments.

The love and connection you share with that partner.
Some just don't share it as well as others.

Re: what are the benefits of being in a relationship?
My lesson learnt : While your'e young dont get involved in relationships, no matter how much you like the girl. Wait till your'e older and youve been through more things, then you'll make better choices, but you still need to know how heartbreak feels.
Benefits of a good relationship : ALOT
Bad relationship : Only dissadvantages

Re: what are the benefits of being in a relationship?
If you find someone you truly enjoy being around.(good conversation, laughter etc)there shouldn't be any stress really, unless you two are drama queens and just look for excuses to find fault in the other then get the hell away from each other. You'll have much more fun humping your fist! Trust me when the real thing shows up you'll know and there won't be all the negative but hells more of the good, and don't just use it as an excuse to get laid.WORD!!!

Re: what are the benefits of being in a relationship?
so to those of you in a relationship now, i must ask.
How would your lifestyle change if it were to end now?
What kind of emotional impact would it ahve on you?
and how would that impact impact your life?

Re: what are the benefits of being in a relationship?
I would feel lonely if i left my gf In the summer we would be just lieing in the sun and fall asleep on eachother, and just being with her gives me a nice warm feeling that you don't get from one timers.

Re: what are the benefits of being in a relationship?
Ive actually thought about the reasons why getting into a relationship is good and the only thing i can ever think of are the sexual sides to it.
Every other thing you can experiance with a partner you could experiance, probably more fun with a very very close best friend.
Not put too much thought in obviously, actually, the only thinking time was when i was actually writing it....
Still.........

Re: what are the benefits of being in a relationship?
Someone to share good stuff with. To know that when you get home from work there will be a hot coffee waiting for you and someone keeping the bed warm.
Stuff is just alot nicer if you have someone to share it with.
Sure, relationships can be stressfull hard work, but it's worth it.

i'm gonna have to disagree, no offense. sure, you can have a mutual love and trust between best friends as well, but its different. it's kind of hard to describe, from a logical point of view, because its more of an emotional experience. just enjoying being physically close to someone, and knowing that you're both perfectly happy and comfortable... is a pretty unique experience. good friendships are also excellent... but a very good relationship beats it.

Re: what are the benefits of being in a relationship?
The ONLY good thing about a good relationship is that you can tell your mind that you have accomplished at least SOMETHING in your meaningless pathetic life, and that will make you happy. That love feeling is like a high for me, so it might be for you and other people as well but I wouldn't know seeing as I'm neither or. Being in a relationship will make you go "yay I have SOMETHING to live for" and when you or your partner fucks up and everything goes to shit, you can dwell on your mistakes and your partners and convince yourself that your partners mistakes were your own and that they could've been prevented thus throwing your black ass into an ocean of depression, low self-esteem, and self mutilation such as in my case :-).

yeah, but if you're hardly ever having sex, there is a problem.
take it from someone who's been there.
