Dude trust me, just go for it. I know it's a million times easier said than done, but if you don't take risks, you might regret it. So just walk up to the girl, and ask them, they'll be impressed that you took the iniciative.

And on the chance that they say no, don't worry, there's plenty of other fish in the sea, and everyone will forget about it. Good luck.

Is there a particular girl? Circumstances? Or are you just trying to get a date in general?

It would help if we knew cirumstances and the nature of your relationship. I'll assume you have talked a few times but mostly have observed her from afar. (I presume that if there was more you'd tell us.) In this case, it's okay to go with the traditional, "hey, so, i was wondering if you'd like to go with me to homecoming?" with a smile and a little steady eye contact. it's okay if you don't get the date - just come on totse and complain and we'll console you. otherwise, post your exploits for all to celebrate!

Send flowers to her house with a card. Smile at her the next day at school and go chat.

well none of us are mind readers; tell the circumstances and you'll get better replies. (same approach still stands though.)

what your relationship is like, how old you both are, how long and often you've been hanging out, the signals you've gotten from her thus far, the nature of how you want the date to be (platonic or romantic), etc.

if you say more than 4 sentences to her everyday and you two are withen eachothers "league" then you have nothing to worry about. For you - sounds like its a go. do it.

Sorry to use your thread, dont want to make a new one.

Any ideas on starting to talk to someone who is a few rows over in my class I've never talked to once in my life? None of my friends know her either.

Im thinking of asking to do a project with her (for class) but she sits with her friend always so I'm sure theyll always be paired up... I need some good ideas!

Okay buddy, I'll give you my two cents.

I would probably make a random joke to her as we leave the class.

But most of all, you just have to be very outgoing DURING class.

Yell jokes out.

Make her (as well as the entire class) laugh!

Or maybe you could just walk up to her and pull a Tyler Durden and be like: "Did you know that distilled water does not boil?"

And another important thing is to take the chances as they come.

There WILL be a chance in that class where you will have the opportunity to socialize with her, and you will choose yes or no.

Just be outgoing.

First of all, you need to introduce yourself. It would have helped if you had a few weeks in advance for this, as you can let her get to know you better.

Just have confidence and you can't fail. Don't make it out to be a huge deal or you will choke. Make it seem as platonic as possible when you are asking her, and unless she is already going with someone else or not going at all, she really won't have a reason not to go with you.

That is, unless she's a bitch.

If your already friends with her just go for it. The direct aproach is by far the best.

Apparently, people find it easier to justify failed actions then inaction to themselves...go for it...and you will feel better in long run success or not...
