I posted this a year ago but didn't archive it. I'm going to repost it and archive it later. For the mean time: Here you go.
I don’t know why there are so many questions about sexual transmitted infections. Did your sex ed class suck that much? I’m not covering ALL STIs here; these are just the most common. If you have anything to add or if you still have questions, post it. If there’s an infection I didn’t cover that you think I should have, within reason, I’ll research and put it up.
Remember, recently “safe sex” was changed to “safer sex” there is no way of protecting yourself 100% other than abstinence. Unless you see his or her test papers, there’s no way of knowing if someone has an STI. Go over to BLTC, a lot of those kids have researched their drugs, they know lethal doses, possible side effects. Sex can be just as dangerous (if not more so) than reckless drug taking. Yes, you can die from having sex. You need to educate yourself, don’t gamble with your health. Engaging in unprotected sex with someone you don’t know is like taking a bunch of different pills: It’s risky as hell! Consider yourself lucky if nothing too bad happens.
Using condoms, dental dams, and spermicides can REDUCE the risk.
All STIs increase the risk of contracting HIV. They lower your immune system. It’s best to get treatment ASAP and not have sex if you think you’ve got something. D’oh!
Most, if not all, STIs can be passed on from mother to baby either during pregnancy or during delivery.
