Saying I love You
2 Month Aniversary to early for "I love You." I wanted to take her the place I asked her out and say it, but I just wanna make sure its not to early. Consider that we have been close friends for 2 years prior to our relationship, and have been "together" since september but didnt start dating till october.
I was thinking of getting a build-a-bear and you can record your own voice, and I wanted to put mine in there saying "I love you babe." Good idea?

the words alone if you truly mean them are enough, but yeah the bear idea sounds cool.

Truthfully, I think it's love if the person loves you back in the same way. 2 months isn't too early, just don't get all obsessive. If she doesn't say that she loves you too or anything, don't worry about it, she eventually will.

Re: Saying I love You
It doesn't sound too early to me since you've known each other for some time now.
I think the build-a-bear idea is one of the best ideas I've heard in a long time. Very sweet and romantic...

Re: Saying I love You
I dont know, I'd hold off on it if I were you.
If one person says they love someone else, and the other person doesnt feel the same way back, it can cause problems. Many times it can often end a relationship. It just makes things very awkward.
Not saying that will definetely happen, but it could. And really, would you rather not say it for a few more months or say it now and have a chance of fucking things up?
Im not saying dont do it, the way you're going to go about it seems like a good way to do it. Im just saying put ALOT of thought in to it.
Hope it goes well for you dude.

Re: Saying I love You
But, messiah, it can also poison a person from the inside. if you mean it, then you are truly one of the lucky, *blessed*, whatever you want to call it.....people on this earth.
And the object of this power should not remain ignorant!! Or a possibility you are risking is resentfulness and regret for not telling when you had the confidence-don't let something this marvelous just stay inside you.
The teddy-bear idea is......astoundingly adorable, but a bit corny. However, like others have said, if you mean it, then go for it!!!

Be ready to shell out the cash. Went in there whilst Christmas shopping for the woman, made one, and ended up shelling out $40.

Re: Saying I love You
If a guy says it to soon to me it makes me think that he wants to just get in my pants and thats all he is interested in.
But if you have known her for some time and you really feel it, i say go fo it!

Re: Saying I love You
I'd advise you to wait one month from the time you feel it's certain and have every desire to say it. So, one month from now, which would make it 3 months into the relationship, which is about right.
And how sure are you about the "I love you return"? You don't want to risk leaving a big matzo ball hanging out there. (see thread in archives if you want)

Re: Saying I love You
There is no way any of us can know from the details you gave if it is too early or not.
If you are celebrating a 2 month anniversary then either it does not matter or you are just too young to say it. Maybe Im wrong and that is just my pet peeve about non-annual anniversaries used to extort money from guys.
If you cannot make up your mind yourself and want a safe rule of thumb
let her say it first.
Cindy is right about the I love you return. That is the real limit on when you can say it, but like I said, if you are unsure, just skip it till she says it. An unreturned I love you can (not necessarily will, but often) fuck up your relationship in unexpected ways. It is kind of hard to describe, but imagine that you are going to get run over by a train in slow motion that might hit you in a day or a month, and at first you cant really see it, but then you can see it somewhat and it feels like you can stop it or get out of the way, but you have the dream-like sluggishness and you cant do a goddamn thing.
Even if all goes well, you still run the risk that your girl is an obsessive I love you collecting freak and will get one from you at every chance she gets in front of everyone.
My advice is to wait. Get the bear and then make sure she understands that it is the bear that loves her.

Re: Saying I love You
My opinion:
It's never too early to say "I love you" to someone you love, if you're sure that you actually do love them. And don't sweat the reply; as long as you're not really expecting one, then it'll all work out for you.
Also, the teddy bear idea sounds too corny to me.

Re: Saying I love You
Not too early... that said, when I was 16 I told my bf of three months that I loved him and he freaked out for about 24 hours, until it finally clicked that he loved me too... so who knows. People are wierd.

I don't think it's too early if you're sure that you mean it whole-heartedly. Maybe look dead into her eyes, say it, and just hold her for a while. Let the silence speak for her.

^^^Then try and figure out what sort of silence it is... it could be too many things saying too many different things.
Silence can mean anything from, "I'm trying to hold this beautifull moment hear." To the extremely common, "Fuck, this is so fucking awkward."
But I'd tell her... then again I'd probably also fuck thing's up.

Re: Saying I love You
Those are three tricky words to toss around. If she says it back all is good.. if she gives you the 3 mile stare, it was the wrong timing. No way to ever tell for sure but there's no measuring stick to say when is too early.
I haven't heard of this build-a-bear thing but it sounds pretty considerate for a gift.

Re: Saying I love You
Bring it on lightly a few days before the big serious 'I love you.' with a few, 'I think I'm in love with ya.'s said somewhat playfully. So she knows you really enjoy being around her and such...then it won't come as a surprise when you outright say "I love you," but as an affirmation of her hunch that you love her.
Relationships are mostly a giant mind game with no real loser unless one of the two parties is a giant cunt.

Re: Saying I love You
i dunno how you could love someone in 2-3 months unless its something amazing or youve known them as friends awhile before you started messing around.
i think half of this boards problem is, for a lack of a better term, emotional whorishness.

That's because the majority are emotion starved nerds who've never felt love, so they consider their first real chance at fulfilling LUST their first 'love' or whatnot, in some fucked up hope that their twisted and failing relationships turn into love.

Re: Saying I love You
with all seriousness.... i'll tell you whats worked for ME in the past...
When your not sure about saying "i love you" to a girl... at the right time say : i love ya" like when u ending a date or something. Notice the difference in " i love you" and " i love ya". It seems less serious and harmful but the upside is, she will react to it in probably a good way. Later on, you build up to the " I love you" and showing her u mean it but start out with an " i love ya " or " love ya"

I have no idea why but I can't tell the girls I go out with that I love them with a straight face. I guess it's because I only want a piece of ass and something to brag about.
