Ugh, I'm seeing my girl tomorrow for the first time in two weeks, so just as something nice, I decided to get her a rose. So I found a flowershop nearby, told the guy what I wanted, and he got me a nice red rose. I gave him a $20 bill, and he gave me back like $9.60. Eleven fucking dollars for a single flower. Keep in mind, these are canadian prices, but still! I mean, what the FUCK? How do people afford to get a dozen...or line a bed or something? I mean, its nice and everything, but I could grow one myself for free! I have enough other plants to know how to keep one alive. Man, $11...she'd better like it.

anyone else bought flowers for a girl? Was it worth it (I've been with this girl for 3 years, so its not a matter of being worth it...just a nice gesture...but for other people, did it do you any good?)? how much money have you spent on a girl, just to get her to like you, etc...discuss.

This is something I've never understood. Sure roses are nice...but so are daisies, violets, etc. (But I even think a bunch of dandelions are pretty )

But the thought is nice...and the fact that it is an extravagance.

There is a huge difference between good enough flowers that are reasonably priced, and perfect flowers that are very expensive. You can usually get nice flowers in the grocery stores around here at a decent price...and they look fine unless they are next to flowers from the florist.

My best friend just celebrated his anniversary with his girlfriend. He bought a couple dozen votive candles, a bottle of wine, and a dozen roses. He lined their bedreem with candles and ripped apart the flowers and put the pedals all over.

It's so cliche, but sweet.

Roses are expensive. I'd rather have a nice pair of jeans than a bouquet of flowers though. The hundreds of dollars that guys have spent on flowers for me is such a waste.

haha, see, the thing is, I'm scoring anyways. I didnt even say, I have something for you or anything, so its going to be a total surprise (not like its a big deal or anything though). I dunno...maybe she'll just be extra enthusiastic? I didnt really think of the results when I got it.

awwww, that's so sweet...but you were concerned about the price when you posted this thread...whatever effect you were going for, you could have got it for less. normally, the added quality though there does not come close to the added price.

thats how I see it. If I'm going to get her flowers, might as well spend the extra 4 dollars, and get something really nice. after all, I'm not going to save THAT much by going to a grocery store.

for $30 at my local florist i get a vase with an assortment of bright, beautiful flowers. it doesnt have to be a rose specifically.

usually a dozen roses in NJ (and we ARE the Garden State, so they are nice) is like $65. shitty ones can be had for $50 tho.

The only flora that I have ever purchased was my girlfriend's corsage, and that was only $25...

Yeah I like dandelions, too. Roses are really overrated. They aren't that pretty. I like lillies or wildflowers better. Or snapdragons which kick ass. Or those carnations that are white with a purple edge on each petal. Those kick ass.
