Just outta curiosity how old are you? If you are about 15 or younger I would say she is asking you out, if either of you are old enough to drive then it is really nothing more than haning out with a friend. Although the majority of time I "hang out with a friend" it leads to something or another (not sex, but anything else pretty much), but that is more because a guy and a girl hanging out...just kinda happens...

Anyways in my opinion it's not a date, but might lead to a little kiss or what-not. The real clincher is that she asked to go out with some other friends, and actually asked the friends.
