>sighs<

It's always "so good" at the moment, yet so "God damnit, what was I thinking" in retrospect..I suggest you walk before you run, is all.

Are you two living together?

I say try that before you go all the way and get married.

Wait until you've been living together without the support of either of your parents for a year first.

^ Better advice than mine, the one year detail should be of importance.

You need to go through the major holidays together to see how you two will fare.

Yeah, besides what's the rush? All marriage is, is a big religious party really. Well, that and you get stuck with her for the rest of your life. Really though, is there any reason it can't wait? I know two people who have been going out for 12 years happily, never broke up or split up once and are just getting married this new years.

Yeah, your in love now. Wait till she ditches you one night to go hang out with 19 year olds she just met that day and get drunk at their house while making out with one of them on their couch and then lies to you about it.

But I wouldn't know anything about that

Love isn't enough.

Most people do their growing and maturing between the ages of 18-26-ish. Neither of you know yourselves well enough yet to be married, let alone knowing each other well enough. You'll be completely different people in 3 years. And different again 5 years after that.

You may be too young for the amount of compromise marriage requires. At least between 18-21, you should be free to make decisions that are best for you and you alone, not someone else.

And being together six months is not nearly enough time to experience the full range of someone's personality.

I've seen some people right here in this forum (despite wanting to laugh at them, I shan't name names) get all excited about someone and start picking out engagement rings. Then everything inevitably crashes and burns, and they seem genuinely surprised and decide they hate women.

I"m so sorry to rain on your parade, but I have two stories to share with you.

I was 15 and "omg, I'm sooooo in love with him". For our 6 month anniversary, he proposed to me. That lasted 4 months, during which he abused the hell out of me, I still carry the scars and it's been several years.

Next scenario ... few months ago in fact. This boyfriend lasted 3 months, and we had decided on marriage after the first month. Yes, that's a weaker example ... but even in that short time I "couldn't imagine my life with anyone but him".

In other words ... give it time. Yes, you feel like you're in love, and will never love another. That can easily change (and I apologize for sounding cruel). But hey, I was engaged twice before I turned 20 ... So wait with her. See if you two can live together prior to marriage. And good luck.

The fine line between genius and madness
Default Re: early marriage?

When I was 19 I often thought of asking my girlfriend to marry me. But I'm not stupid, so I didn't. I knew for a fact that setting any solid plans would be a bad idea.

Keep in mind, marrige is about a lot more than ses, which many young couples tend to forget.
