Sure, go on a date with her. HOwever, be prepared for some resistence from her parents, since you're older than she. Also, watch out on having sex with her, since she's not 18 yet.

It's an accepted practice around here (pennsylvania)for 17-18 year old girls to date 22+/- year old men. *shrug*

Check your state laws for legality of sex, but go ahead and go out with her. Here in Florida 16 is legal until you turn 24 then it's 18 (kinda stupid if you ask me, you are either old enough or you aren't, and age isn't as important as maturity but that's another rant).

True, I just felt he deserves a warning because it can land you in jail. And just an accusation can make a stigma follow you around. And in some states being a registered sex offerder really sucks (needed to put signs on you lawn and shit) with weed you just get the probation, fine, jailtime, whatever and after that's done it's done.

This is of course if it led to that, I doubt it will. And it usually isn't the girl you need to worry about so much as her parents.

Because there are girls out there (especially young and immature girls) that when they get their hearts broken will go insane. With the knowledge that she can get you into a great deal of shit after a phone conversation full of crying she'd be very much inclined to run to her parents to tell all about "that asshole". Hell, she might even throw in a few extra goodies, "he got me drunk, he made me do drugs, he made me do wierd freaky sexual things". Who are the cops going to believe? Afterall, she's the innocent high school girl (females are VASTLY better at pulling off an appearance they want then males) and he's the 20 year old scum bag corrupting the poor girl.

It's happened to a few of my friends, friends who put up with a lot of shit had enough and left the relationship in the most un-assholish way possible, and had the immature broken heart telling horror stories.

Societies views, whether the least bit correct or not, effect (or is that affect) us all. To everyone who has the power to throw your ass in jail she will always come off as the sweet innocent daddy's-little-girl and he will always come off as the old creep molesting her innocence away.

You dont have to have sex with her yet, just be boyfriend/girlfriend until she's 18. But thats not my choice.

I'd say go for it, if you're both willing.

A few months ago, when I was 16, I did everything but have intercourse with the little sister of an ex-girlfriend of mine. She just turned 14, so it wasn't that bad at all, and I basically helped her learn about what guys liked and shit. One bit of advice, (don't know if this applies given the age difference between your situation and mine) take it easy on young girls. Going too hard doing certain things can be a big turn-off.

Ok, my rant on maturity summed up:

There are so many laws that are affected by age. Not only that but half these laws make no sense, for instance I am old enough to elect the president, be sent to war to die and more importantly kill but I am not old enough to go into a bar and get a shot of whiskey. Also many of these laws are so arbitary, for instance in some states if someone who just turned 18 goes off and has sex with someone that turns 18 next week he can face years in jail for it if the authorities find out, many states have some age differance thing where it is just a misdeminor like yours but I am sure some don't. Also society takes a look at someone's age and draws all kinds of conclusions based on it. In actuallity age means shit, it's maturity that's important. I have know 16 year olds more mature then 30 year olds and seen 30 year olds less mature then 12 year olds. Yes age may have some affect on maturity due to experiance, and you can possibly get an idea of what to expect from age but sometimes that idea is wrong.
