Don't think there's an easy way - just be honest and say it's not working out for you . Say you will cherish all the times you had together and you will always care for them , but it's time for you to move on .

Otherwise, there is no non-hurtful way to dump someone. There's always the chance that you'll both want to terminate the relationship at some time in the future. People do grow and drift apart.

Heh, there was an episode on Seindfeld about mutual break-ups. Jerry was going out with this girl and they had heaps in common. But they did what cindy said and just grew apart and had a mutual break up. Then when Jerry told Elaine she didn't believe him. So Jerry got all the staff that worked in the diner together and asked them all. The verdict was that there can be a mutual break up.

there is no way! the only thing you can do is damage control, make sure you do it in person, take time out to explain to them why, and under no circumstances do what i did, and hook up with the person they hate more than anyone else within two days of leaving them.

oh also cutting off contact for a while helps as it gives them time to get used to it, and makes it a lot less messy
