My girlfriend is considering getting birth control pills and would like to know what the procedure is to get them. Do they perform a PAP test? She is 16, does she need a legal adult? What other kind of tests do they perform? Thank-you.

I dont think you need an adult, but you WILL need a perscription (at least you do in Canada. btw, anything I say here is based on my Canadian experience). I also dont think you MUST have a PAP test, but its HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended. Its also highly recommended to get a PAP test every 6 months or so when a girl is sexually active, especially on the pill. Anyhoo, get her to go talk to her doctor/gynecologist (sp?) to get a perscription and any necessary tests. It should cost about $15 per month. (Be prepared...it'll make her hyper horny, but also super emotional.)

Why wouldn't she have a pap test? It's a good idea to have one, and it's not bad at all. It's just a doctor checking to make sure you're healthy. I'd rather have one than not.

she can just say she wants them to keep her skin looking healthy!

We were told during a PAP test that the doctor sticks a metal thing in her that opens her up big enough for him to shove his arm in there almost down to his elbow. She doesn't want to be fisted. Can someone verify this?

Christ. She's not going to be fisted. He sticks a small metal thing in there so he can put a couple fingers in to make sure all her bits are in the right places and see how things look. It's in no way painful, and only a little bit uncomfortable. And the he will probably be a she, considering your girlfriend's age.

Getting birth control is a very difficult and tedious task. If you live in Canada, it will be cheap, but you will have to undergoe numerous tests of your health and sexual history. Your vagina will be closely monitored by your doctor to make sure it does not become a host for infection. You will alsobe subject to the speculum tests and be swabbed monthly.

If she does not want to tell her mother, then you should find a free clinic or even have one of her friend's mom to bring her, and if she has been sexually active then they will do a pap smear, if not then just a pelvic exam. You do not have to be an adult, you do not even have to have an adult at certain places. I didn't have to bring my mom.
