Default relationships in the workplace

i've know this guy for a few months. we work together. two weeks ago we ended up talking from midnight till 6 a.m. i have never connected or talked to anyone for that long. we ended up making out and cuddling a lot. the week went on and we only had one chance to be alone. he told me that he sort of had a girlfriend. they go to school together and since its summer she moved back to texas (we are in california). they only went out for two months in school and their summer is 3 1/2 months long so they would be apart for longer than they went out for. he told me that he wanted to call his gf and tell her that he wanted to go on a break, hopefully so we could have a chance at a relationship. this all happened last week. i dont want to bug him or be the clingie girl who bothers him and always asks him questions. i dont know what is going on in his head. i think i may like him a lot more than he likes me but he still seems to want to be with me but he still hasnt officially told me that he went on a break with his gf.

Basically, i want to go out with him but he's not talking about it. what should i do?

Just say you want to know what's going on. Don't nag, don't bug him, just ask him for a straight answer. That's not clingy, that's straight-forward and no-nonsense. Which guys seem to value.

Stephanina is on the nail with her advice, but just remember, there is actually reasons behind the phrase dont shit where you eat.

You have to be really careful with work place relationships

I'd rather a girl be a clingy than one that would just straight out ask me for something. That would tell me that she really likes me. Don't assume what all guys think. You're a girl. You have next to no idea.

Date co-workers only if you can afford to and are willing to quit/lose your job.

A guy who dumps someone to be with you will dump you to be with someone else. However, it's unreasonable to expect such a short-lived relationship to survive a summer 2000 miles apart.

The best thing you can do is proceed with your life unfettered. See others. Try to avoid making it look like you're waiting around for him to make a decision. If he does break up with his gf, then you can be with him if you choose. As flattering as it may seem, you don't want to be the one who "causes" a break up.

Relations at work only matter depending on where you work. In a cubicle type job that could be bad, but if you work in fast food type then it really is no different then dating someone from school (unless they are your manager or vice versa).

Really just strait out ask him. Nagging has got to be the worst thing you can do. Personally I have a really bad temper (just dun show it), and people trying to manipulate me piss me off. So when someone tries to hint me into telling them something I will purposely ignore them til they flat out ask me. Other guys may be different, that is just the way I am...
