Default How do -you- measure attractiveness?

The topic name is self-explanatory. Be as detailed or as vague as you want. To clarify, how do you determine (perhaps on a scale, to simplify) exactly how attractive a person is? Note that we're not talking how beautiful they are, or how good they are in a holistic sense, but solely the sexual (or physical) attraction.

I am honestly too tired to post mine, but you can rest assured that I will in the morning.

Default Re: How do -you- measure attractiveness?

This one's a bit intangible, mook; it's highly, highly, highly dependent on the woman, and there is a sickening amount of variables and exceptions, BUT...

I measure attractiveness by figure, hygiene, smile, choice of dress (slutty vs. not, etc), the general air she carries, etc. This is purely physical, and still convoluted, at least for me. I'm not terribly picky, though: If she's not dressed/made up like a whore, obese, emaciated like a Bergen-Belsen survivor, pizza-faced (bad acne) or dirty and crass or anything, I'll give her a shot, at least. So long as she's real. I don't give a real fuck about her height or hair or eye color, tit size; I may PREFER a brunette, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate or wouldn't date a blonde.

And for perspective: Removing all emotional ANYTHING from how I feel about her, Kelly's still probably the hottest woman I've ever seen, and the standard by which I measure many others (but not all).

And the poster above me has a good part of it nailed, too.

Guys: as close to Trent Reznor as possible

Girls: as close to Angelina Jolie as possible

So my 1-10 scale puts Gary Busey (borrowing from Maddox here) at 1 for both guys and girls. 10 would be the above-mentioned celebrities.

I have a hard time with the fact that Angelina is the product of John Voight...ugh. He's like an old, creepy, ugly Christopher Walken, only he doesn't kick ass like Walken.

I'm getting to where I think I'd nail Denise Richards: She almost seems masculine sometimes, but goddamnit..Just something about her.

Oh, and all older men should aspire to look like Harrison Ford. I'm sorry, it's true.

^^Have you seen Midnight Cowboy? Now that's a Jon Voight movie. He was young once. Plus, Angelina's mother is a gorgeous French woman.

As far as the original post, I think it's folly to try to articulate that sort of attractiveness, in a vacuum. I've been known to think, "Hmm, he looks kinda hot right now" when looking at Frankie Muniz or Donald Rumsfeld. Maybe I'm just weird, or confused.

It's also a folly to shoot as fast as I can with a pistol in each hand, but I do it anyway.

(I agree with you; I just mean, I always try to comprehend and articulate the incomprehensible/inexplicable anyway, from black holes and the space-time continuum to...women. Heehee.)

Oh, and Donald Rumsfeld is the fucking man. He looks like a white, bigger version of my grandfather. I'm serious.

Default Re: How do -you- measure attractiveness?

cindy & infra: Yes, I know there's a certain amount of intangibility involved; but there's also a significant amount of the process that can be broken down ie: she's got a nice smile. She's got a nice ass. She's got a nice nose, mouth, eyes, hair, etc.

Obviously we don't think this to ourselves (at least I don't. I just think "she is <rating>" and be done with it), but it's definitely possible to break it down to some extent if you want to.

So, disregarding the 'inscrutable aspect' discussed in the first paragraph, here is my rating scale. Due in part to the above, in practice, it's highly erratic (for instance, I might rate a girl a 6 or 7 when according to my scale she only deserves a 3 or even an 8)

First, I absolutely loathe any sort of hair product (besides shampoo & conditioner). I'm talking like hair dye, perms, and all those other products girls (and guys) put into their hair to make themselves look pretty. It might look good when you first see it, but don't try touching their hair at all, or even inspecting it more than cursorily (new word?). Ugh.

It's the same deal with makeup. I mean, I want to see how you really look. Not how you make yourself look with a temporary solution (lest I contradict myself later on, clothes don't count).

Now there's probably a complex psychological explanation, stemming from my perceived self-esteem issues, for this one, but I actually prefer girls with more 'plain' faces. That is, not strikingly pretty faces, more normal-looking.

More holistically, I don't really like girls who are skinny. I actually far prefer girls who are in the "chubby" category; I don't know exactly how to enumerate this, but you can get the drift, I hope.

I like Italians the most. Their skin tone is the best, as well as hair and eyes. No other ethnicity can beat Italians.

Hmmmm.. When it comes to girls, I'm not remotely interested if I don't find their face attractive.

It's difficult to go into it hostillically, because they could have nice eyes or lips, but a poor shape of face/bad nose.

Then, it goes into figure, I don't like too fat or too thin and I actually find certain shapes of stomachs sexy. Caliber of breasts matters.. I don't like too big, I don't like too small just about medium, with a respectable shape.

Legs come next and butts.. I don't get butts too much. Seeing as I'm still a bit confused, I guess that's how it goes. I don't like girls who are too tall either

Me, personally, I don't really rate 'em, I just sorta say if I'd go out w/ 'em or not. What I base that on is personallity, whether or not they look good, if they're fat or not, and a few other things. Just like there's this one chick at my school that's cute, but she's kinda chubby so I wouldn't go out w/ her, but I still say she's cute, and she's a total bitch too, so yea. Hope that helps.

I measure it by complexion (the darker the hotter) Size, (i like a girl with a nice figure, i hate girls that r like twigs and i on average dont date girls that are bigger then 180 lbs) Personality (cute, quiet girl that isnt ditzy or a know it all) eyes ( i completely freze around a girl with brown eyes, but i prefer green over that, i dont like blue eyes) Anti-social (i prefer a girl that goes against the flow, and that might need to take a few behavioral classes :P) I like girls that dont beleive in bullshit and girls that i can talk to, i dont like stupid girls !!!

Edit: Also, smell, i like the smell of the outside, but not a shitty smell... II like the smells of the woods n berries n such.

I think the word you're looking for is "nonconformist".

Antisocial is a personality disorder, kind of like psychopath or sociopath which is characterized by having little or no conscience.

The Adam Scale:

1) Fat, acne, saggy and ovoid tits, gaping pussy, cankles, maps on their skin (veiny), stubby limbs, tiny or gigantic nose, big ears, yellow teeth, crotch breath, and the smell of dead fish. Dressed either like a whore or businesswoman.

5) Chubby, very little acne, perky OR round breats, fit legs, fair skin, average proportion, medium or small nose, relatively white teeth, decent breath, and cleanliness. Dressed like a whore or a valley girl.

10) Slim to little fat, clean and smooth skin with little to no blemishes, perky and round breasts, toned legs, toned arms, toned stomache, medium to dark complexion, normal to slightly lengthy proportions, medium nose, average ears, white teeth, fresh breath, red or black hair (and neon colors), clean as can be. Dressed in relaxing clothing, trashy clothing, or rags.

Mook, what the fuck are you on? Italians use tons of make-up/skin products/hair products. Italians look their best all the time because its part of a philosophy that stems from the old days when they'd parade themselves out on the street on a sunday night in their best clothes. I've been to Italy, and have Italian friends, Italians always want to look their best and will go at great lengths to do this. The little paragraph about Italians totally contradicts all the previous paragraphs you wrote.

I must agree. But, I think I am crazy, as I wouldn't fuck any celebrities or supermodels. I can say "good lord, that guy is hot" but I wouldn't fuck him. To be honest, I would only fuck my boyfriend, no matter how good looking the other guy was (and this isn't just because I have he's my boyfriend). People can look as good as they want, they still won't sexually attract me (I mean this literally).

That said, I like dark and floppy hair, pale skin, and high cheekbones.

Really, I don't think there is any one way of answering this question. It doesn't even necessarily depend on how exactly they look. Sometimes, its just the way they carry themselves. I could find a blonde just as attractive as a redhead as a attractive as a brunette. Some people are sexy, and others are not. Some people should be sexy (they have the body and potential) but for some reason are not. You must know what I'm talking about, yeah?

Edit: The poster above me reminded me. I can't stand it when people put really, really obvious effort into their appearances. People look much better when they are gorgeous but don't look like they're trying their hardest to be gorgeous. Nope, I don't wear makeup, and I don't usually like it on other people, either (there are of course exceptions to this). A girl that looks sexy in jeans and a t-shirt will be more likely to catch my eye than the same girl in a miniskirt and a bikini top, no matter how good the bikini looks.

attractivnessis measure by alot of things. facial symmetry being a big one. then there is enviormental factors, like if your whoile family is blonde lets say, youll prolly go for blondes. i actually read alot about this, but who really gives a fuck.

i know blondes for example, arent even on my radar. i dont even look at them as women unless they make a strong pass at me.

if you're confident without being arrogant, know how to hold yourself, etc...that is far more attractive than a drop-dead gorgeous body or face. i mean, whatever physical features you have will become attractive or not, based on WHO YOU ARE.

thats what i think, anyway...

A lot of attractivness deals with the face. The attractiveness of a person's body always seems to be directly proportional to the attractivness of the facial features. Attractiveness cannot really be measured in a quantitative manner. It is measured in a qualitative manner, and therefore the standards vary from person to person.
