First Loves
How long did It take you to get over your first love?
Did you ever get over them?
What were some methods you used?
Me personally, It's only been 3 months. I even cut down contact to a minimum, yet to no prevail. I am one of those people who can just forget shit too, so I've come to the conclusion you don't ever get over them....
So let me hear your thoughts on this.

Re: First Loves
i made the cardinal mistake of not cutting off contact totally with them, so it took about a year. but once they were totally gone, it didnt take all that long.
im 22, and that was 8 years ago. the only thing i feel for her, were i to see her again, would be the same familiarity i feel with most other women ive had sex with. no lingering attachments, so special feelings, just the knowledge that ive been in her and understood her in a way that most wont. but like me, she isnt the same person from then.
the thing that stuck with me longer than feelings was the new knowledge that things dont work out. and how easy it is for ppl to betray each other. its a lesson everyone needs to learn, and im glad i got it out of the way so early on.

Hmm... she dumped me, and I continued to be friends with her. Took me about 6 months, tops. Her and I are still good friends to this day. I dont get people who have bad break ups...

Re: First Loves
Gray
I have a friend who is turning gray,
not just her hair,
and I do not know why this is so.
Is it a lack of vitamin E pantothenic acid, or B-12?
Or is it from being frantic and alone?
'How long does it take you to love someone?' I ask her.
'A hot second,' she replies.
'And how long do you love them?'
'Oh, anywhere up to several months.'
'And how long does it take you to get over loving them?'
'Three weeks,' she said, 'tops.'
Did I mention I am also turning gray?
It is because I *adore* this woman who thinks of love in this way.

Re: First Loves
About 8 months. Though the scars still show like the day it happened. We're still good friends. Thats one thing we promised when started dating. That no matter what, neither of us would pussy out of the friendship, and that things wouldn't get awkward. Which made it harder for both of us, but when it was all done it made us stronger. We became closer through the break up. Than we were whne we were going out.
Word of advice, if you date a close friend, keep the close friend at the end of the relationship. It brings you closer. If you are to lazy to do so, then you never deserved that friend to begin with.

Re: First Loves
It took me a little over a year, but I still get that twinge of a feeling whenever I hear a song, smell a scent, look at a picture, etc, that was associated with him and the time we were together.
I'm not sure if it's a lingering feeling of love, rather a feeling of remorse. I miss what we had, not what we became.
Still whenever I smell Victoria's Secret's scent heavenly (which is the fragrance that i wore while i was with him) it always will bring back a memory or two. Sometimes I smile, sometimes I don't.
Well than, now I'm kind've sad...meh

Re: First Loves
I'm still not over her. It's been, hmm...Well, not TOO long, since The Final Cut, and it still hurts me; that's why I use meth. Tweaking, the thoughts of her are fleeting, and it's easy to distract myself with something else. No, I'm not saying "It's her fault I'm a tweaker": I'm saying, I turned to it, because I had something ripped from me that almost killed me, inside and out. Meth doesn't fill that void..It just lets me ignore it.
I'm doing BETTER, though..I know that friends, especially close female ones, REALLY fucking helped me, as did reaffirming to myself what I still have and why I'm worthwhile, and why I should keep moving, and not give myself the Desert Eagle treatment. I've found that if you can get out of bed for YOU in the morning, even if you have nothing and no one else, you'll be ok. You have to have an "I'm a great person, and I fucking know it, and I have a lot to offer, so I'm getting up and moving on for that reason" attitude.
There will be relapses, there will be things that make you think of her (or him), and make no mistake, it WILL take a long time to be normal again, and even then, there will always be that little piece of you that still hurts, still misses her/him, still loves her/him, for the rest of your life. I liken it to this: Being in a relationship is like sticking a piece of tape to a piece of paper. Breaking up is like ripping the tape off the paper: Some of the paper always remains on the tape, and won't come off, ever. There's still pieces of her left in me, my mind, my memories, my heart, my soul, my life.
But, those pieces will be all but invisible in time. They're already losing their edge, even though I'm starting to tear up a little right now over her...But at one time, I'd be crying all night if I reflected too long on our years; now, I'll dry up and forget it as soon as I'm done posting this.
The worst part is the month or so after; you will have uncontrollable, horrific, angry, sad crying fits; you'll withdraw into yourself, you'll lose weight, you'll probably even contemplate suicide: Not because you don't want to live, but because you want the pain to end. Stick through it, and TALK TO YOUR FRIENDS during this time!! Don't alienate them. And talk to an understanding girl, too..But DO NOT try to love her, or let yourself fall into her arms. Er, sorry, got male-centric there. Well, Psychotogen's a guy, and a good one, though that wigger thing's gotta stop, my friend.
Anyway..Yeah. Keep your friends close, keep YOURSELF closer, do the things you love, meet new people, learn to move on. "The heavens fall, but still we crawl".
You WILL be alright again.

Re: First Loves
WHat is this wigger thing?
Yall need to get over that. WHen have I ever tried to act black?
Besides that, truer words have never been spoken.
PAIN UNTHINKABLE
My undying love for her,
Cause pain unthinkable.
Paranoia killed the joy
& love turned to pain unthinkable.
90 days & 90 nights,
she held me tight.
The love she had turned into fright.
& left the pain unthinkable.
Now we live together,
But I pushed her away.
My heart is overwhelmed,
And the pain is still unthinkable.
Each day I feel,
something realer than the real.
It doesnt matter what I feel,
because the pain remains unthinkable.
Why keep caged,
What you wish to see fly?
This is what remains to be learned.
I just know the pains unthinkable
I thought this was appropriate.

Re: First Loves
though it DID take me a while, i realized that I am not one of those one time fuck ppl that only got one chance to get laid and loved cause they're so fukkin ugly and dumb and stuck on their first love. I can get some somewhere else and if I want someone else to love. You will realize that each next love you have will be even better than the last. I have proven it guys and so have MANY others. And sex can take away sorrow of a lost love! think about it. There are 3 billion other persons of the opposite sex out there for you ppl. There will always be a BETTER love than the first. It's all about living in the future not what happened in teh past with regret! buh bye and good luck

We all know what? I'm pretty sure that was some kind of derisive comment, but I'm just curious.

Re: First Loves
i like to think that i was over them before it ended (i was exhausted with the hurting by that stage), but it really only took me a few weeks to get over them after an 8 month relationship.
getting over them was easy. i picked out each and every one of their faults that when i was with them made me think "oohh it makes them more human". errr bullshit. so every time i spoke/thought about them, i'd block out all of their positives with all of their negatives. also, cutting off contact or minimal contact (in my case) helps too. never act on those urges to 'check up on how they are going' or 'to tell them how much of a complete asshole they are' - they're a part of your past. don't waste your time on them anymore.
xx =)

Re: First Loves
The first girl that i loved, or had deep feelings for, we dated for 1 1/2 years, it took me, all of two weeks to get over. At the time, I had moved to a different state, she wanted to keep dating, so to appeaze(sp.) her, i said yes, once i got settled into my new home, i called and told her that it was over, that i'd found some one else.
Now, I'm living back in the same ole town that she lives in we're friends but nothing more.
