You could start by asking her casually if she has MSN Messenger or AIM. And get her e-mail adress. Chat a bit on messenger, chat a bit on the phone. Usually it's a lot easier to tell someone you like them on MSN. So just say it. It'll be easier for her to speak her mind about you, too, over the internet. And don't forget to tell her about your self. Somehow let her know that you're not a player.

And... just ask her out? If you want more than a drunken hookup, just ask her out. If she rejects you, you can still probably get the drunken hookup. Girls are way easier with booze... well, at least I am.

I'm no good with grils either (been thinking about yahoo personals) but I say you just become friends with her first. Ask her to hang out, have lunch, whatever. Try to be with at least a few other people at least the first time, so she doesn't get the impression it's a date. If you get along really well, then ask her to do something with just the 2 of you. Be sure the group you're with aren't "gangsas" and try to be a gentleman. I'm not big on gentleman-ness (opening car doors and shit) but I'm all for just being nice. You might want to even go slightly overboard in the begginning just so she diffinitely knows you're trying to be nice.
