Default Unrequited (but used) Love

Hi guys, first timer here.

So, I told a guy that I liked him. He acknowledged the fact, and I guess set it aside for the time being. A few weeks later, on a trip together away from home, he makes the move and we have sex. I tell him that I've wanted this for a while now and he says "Me too". So we fool around the next day, and I decide to find out where this is ging to end up relationship wise. The thing is he is moving, far. The other thing is he just got out of a long term relationship, which is probably something he doesn't want to jump back into again but is what I'm in the market for. I can't lie to myself, I knew this from the beginging. So I asked him if all it was going to be was friends, he said,"Is that O.k for now?" What does "for now" mean? Did he just say it to make me feel better? Did he use me because he knew I liked him? Or does he like me but can't do much more about it under the given circumstances?

Should I feel used?

You have to take into account the he just got out of a relationship.

1. You could be a rebound.

2. He likes you but hasn't recooped from his last relationship.

No one here can tell you his motive. How long did you know him before you had sex? How well do you know him? How long was he with his ex? Why'd they break up?

Depending how you answer, the best I can say is at first he looked at you as a rebound but now thinks there could be something more, he doesn't want to rush it.

The worst: He's using you.

Since you both had sex willingly, nobody is at a disadvantage.

It depends on what you went into this sex thing with. Did you know he was moving "far" before you had sex with him? Not that that's a bad thing necessarily but what do you expect from him IF you knew he'd be out of the picture?

Should you feel used? Should he? Maybe you used each other? Besides not knowing what your intentions and motivations were in this short relationship, I'd say it was a matter of two lonely people attracted to each other having sex, as anyone in this situation might do. You can probably answer your own question better than we can if you give it some thought.

From a guy's standpoint, if I was moving "far" away and thought I could have sex with you, knowing it couldn't lead to anything, I probably would. I might regret not being able to continue the relationship, but I wouldn't regret the experience.. for what it's worth.

Capt Snow - Thanks for the welcome

MrMojoRisin - I've known him for about six months. I knew him before that, but it wasn't anything subsancial. Honestly, I don't know him well enough at all. He opened up to me once and I felt like we clicked for a moment. Right now I'm in a situation where I'm totally vulnerable and I feel stupid for not asking him about how he feels about me. He's so assertive and aggressive, which is also part of the turn on. They went out for a year, broke up because he wasn't in love with her anymore.

Nihilism - I'd hate to agree with you, but I have no choice but to lean towards it, especially since I'd heard that after breaking up with the old lady he was trying to get some from someone else who wasn't putting out. So what does that make me except really pathetic, since I saw it coming.

pathogen - Yes, I knew he was moving beforehand, but there is also talk of him being able to stay here (fat chance, but theres a chance nonetheless). I refuse to regret the experience because, while it wasn't exactly what I wanted, it was part.

Everybody - Should I let it go and not expect anything to be done?

Keep your expectations low, and you won't be too disappointed when nothing happens.

Your questions assume there is an answer now. I doubt there is. Just because your relationship started in your mind before you two hooked up, it does not mean it did with him. For him it is still new and could go either way; even if he does not think so. His moving is not in your favor, but that does not mean he will never fall for you. Trying to get him to commit too soon could scare him off. If you want to pursue it, try to go out with him some more with no pressure on him and see if the two of you can build your relationship together.
