g'day everyone, I just need a bit of minor help.

How do you let down a girl that you don't like without hurting her feelings?

I met her over msn ages ago, and didn't meet her until the other day, and quite frankly I've been put off because i've met someone else. How do I tell her this, she likes me but I don't like her back. I don't want to lead her on like those really bitchy girls do.

any ideas?

Tell her you grew up and no longer date over the internet like a friendless child with acne.

Just tell her like it, but be nice about it. Say something like, you think she is really nice, but you see her as more of a friend than a girlfriend. Or you could just tell her to fuck off, then push her down and run.

write her a letter(you know those bits of paper with words on them!).

spend time working out what you want to say.

letters are better than face2face or email cos she can reread it as often as she wants until she understands what you're trying to say.

AND ABOVE ALL BE KIND! choose each word with care and ask yourself if it was the other way round "would this sentence hurt me?"

I don't know why people are so dumb about this. It's a lot easier for the girl to take if you just tell her the truth. It's not going to hurt any less if you try to let her down easy, but she'll know you're doing it and it will make her feel pathetic. For fuck's sake. There is no secret formula, just tell her you met someone else.

It's really quite simple.

tell her you see her as nothing more than a fucking buddy. tell her that if she loved you, she would let you beat and have a gf.

There's really not a "good" way to let someone down "softly". You may be thinking you're doing it for her sake, but it's possible you're doing it for your sake, to avoid a confrontational situation.

It's best to just be honest and straightforward. "I made a mistake, this isn't going to work, I'm sorry I wasted your time" or something like that.

He's right, I kissed a guy once and it seems like everyone at my school knows now, doesn't exactly make it easier to meet girls, either.
