I..need closure, but I can't have it..
About 3 years ago I knew this girl, I think we may have been in love. I started being a dickhead, and we stopped talking. About a year after not talking I e-mail her, and she tells me she has a boyfriend, going to college now, etc. Tonight, I have a dream about her, and I cannot get rid of this feeling. It's this feeling like..I forgot something that I'm desperately trying to remember..do you know that feeling?
So, I e-mail her tonight after thinking about it for a bit just to ask how she's doing, and to tell her about that empty feeling I have...maybe just to get one more goodbye. I felt better after I sent the mail..only a few minutes later I get a return e-mail saying that address no longer exists.
I have no idea what city she lives in anymore, I dont remember her last name..nothing. I'll never ever speak to this girl again, and that..just doesnt sit right.
When is this going to go away? I can't help but dwell on the situation, no matter how hard I try stopping myself.

Re: I..need closure, but I can't have it..
well, life is long, and in my experience, i've had closure with almost (ALMOST) everyone, all over the globe.
Problem is, you meet them 5 or even 10 years later, they would have changed, and you will either be with someone else, or you don't like them any more.
Once i met up on a beach with a guy i had liked for years, like 3 or 4 years. And by the time we made out, i just didn't feel like it, because my crush had worn off.
Or the ex-boyfriend who dumped me who i desperately wanted to see ONE LAST TIME to show him how far i've come, how much weight i lost, my deep golden tan from living in a sunnier country. Well, as a total coincidence, i met him on the street one day, we talked, he wanted to ask me out, but the feeling of revenge just wasn't there.
And it just goes on and on, the people i fantasized about for years and one day actually got, or the people i just wanted to see one more time. It's never everything you wanted it to be, but it sure beats never seeing them or never knowing what could have been.
Just keep your eyes open for her. You'll see her.

If you are Desparate to contact her, then ask one of her friends..
But man, if you love her, time (or her) are the onlyy things (in my experience) that can sure it.

Re: I..need closure, but I can't have it..
Your title is very accurate.
So you've learned something. Now you're smarter. Certain behaviors do have consequences, which might hit you down the road when you least expect it.
People move on. Contact from someone who let them down only serves to renew the pain. Who needs that? Sure, the one who realizes s/he was a jerk feels better and gets closure, but, once again, at the expense of the person they were a "dickhead" to.
So, leave her be, and take it as a lesson.

Re: I..need closure, but I can't have it..
Ok here's one I'm good on.
I was in love with a girl (deeply) and after 3 years the slut cheated on me. I was deeply depressed for months and months. At first I wanted to get back together with her even though I visciously dumped her. We started hooking up again and she, as far as I could tell, wanted me back.
One day we were supposed to meet up after her work. She said she would call me after she was off and never called me again. i've seen her around, never talked to her though.
I found that trying to ignore the fact that I was in emotional pain only made it worse. Instead, I learned to accept the fact that what was going on in my head was simply an experience. Just the same as watching TV, walking down the street, or going to work, what I was feeling was simply happening and there was nothing I could do to stop it.
All experience makes you wiser, and almost all experience is a good thing, because what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.
