How much do you guys/girls spend on your partners birthday ? My Gf's birth day is coming up and im buying her a mobile phone.

It costs $860 AUD..but im getting a stolen one for $300 and shes winge'in about how much i spend on her. We have been together for almost 8 months, shes 14ish and im almost 16.

That's way too much to be spending on a girlfriend at your age .....I reckon $50- $100 aud is more than enough . I guess your girlfriend's not happy about it because now she feels she has to spend a similar amount on you and she doesn't either want too is isn't able to .

Nah i dont think its that. She bought me a $80 bray clet (sp?) when we had only been going out for like 3 months, so i bought her a $90 one to out do her.

Then for our 6 month i told her i wanted some thing from the hearth that she made. SO she made me a very beautifu photo frame with pics of her in it. And i bought her a $89.50 ring (but whos keeping track).

For her birthday i told her im going to get her a nokia 7250 because she had one and it went missing. that phone meant alot to her so i want her to be happy (which is why im getting her another one).

I told her all i want for my B'day is some hting from the heart again that she has put alot of effort and thought into, that sort of stuff means alot to me.

I don't really think dollar figures ever matter when it comes to gifts... for boyfriends, girlfriends, brothers, sisters, parents... if you come accross something that you know will make a loved one's day then it's worth whatever price (as long as you're able to afford it).

Just remember, some of the best gifts are cheap as, and some really pricey gifts just aren't worth it. The key is choosing something they will really love, and then you bother with considering how you'll pay for it.

If someone spent $200 on a mobile phone as a gift for me I'd be a bit disgusted... but that's because I don't really think mobile phones are that cool but if that's the kind of thing that makes your gf happy then it's worth it. If she is telling you, or hinting to you that it's not worth that much to her then you should take heed and consider a gift that is more to her liking. Better to spend $10 on a gift someone will love than $300 on a gift they will only appreciate.

I maybe pessimistic - but consider this ..

It's likely that at your age you are not going to spend the rest of your life together ...

And perhaps when you do break up - you will be thinking - why the hell did I spend all that money on her - it was a waste . ( I know you won't understand this right now - but in time you may .

That's what I do. I look around for whatever I find suitable as a gift and as long as it's not tooo expesive...well, that's not true. I do tend to buy expensive gifts, but I work hard for the money.

I have yet to recieve a great gift from a girlfriend.

Black Flag bought me the Mother's Milk album. That was an awsome gift.

hmmm well lets just say " put it down to experience". Been there done that . It's not selfishness, but at such a young age ( this dude is 15 years old ) $300 - $800 it's an awful lot of money to spend on a birthday gift.
