Mine wasn't nearly as swollen or anything. I was eating normal food 4 hours later. It might have had something to do with the novocaine, I'm not sure. Or maybe German piercings are just better than American ones.

Piercings, dying your hair, plastic surgery, etc... its all the same to me. If you need that shit, then your not secure with yourself, imo. If you arent secure with yourself, you will never be secure enough for someone else. You will always try to make yourself better for other ppl b/c your not good enough for yourself. But you will only end up ruining yourself b/c you wont be who you really are. I used to want to dye my hair, b/c its perfect black and it gets annoying to me, but i decided i wouldnt for 1, every1 else was doing it, and 2, it would change who i am. I realized that i am my own person and doing something like that would change me. Not just physically either. If i dyed my hair, it would show my insecurity w/ myself. Im not insecure with myself at all. Do i hate my life, yes... but i wouldnt change it or live some1 elses life for anything.

Piercings work in the same way. They really arent that attractive imo, having a piece of metal sticking through your tongue. Its getting really old now too b/c so many ppl are doing it. But it was your choice, and if it makes you happy, then w-e, but it prolly wont be good enough for you later on. And then it will reach that point where you wish you never had a tongue ring or something. But its not my life and im not worried about anyone elses.

I was using more permanent examples. If its clothes... well i personally hate when ppl where the same shit. How does a form of art such as tattooing and piercing make someone insecure, every think that it's used as a form of self expression and not to make yourself more secure.

I have a tattoo which I'm not finished yet and my nose pierced and I am not in the least insecure about myself.

I don't care what others think, I'am who I am and if people dont like it them that's to bad I not around to please anyone but myself.

It's not as though I'd asked for it, I was expecting to just stick out my tongue and have the needle shoved through. Don't smoke pot with it still healing. Same with smoking cigarettes, swapping fluids (through a bong/pipe/kissing/oral sex etc) and most importantly same with drinking alcohol. It is pretty hard to actually get an infection in a tongue piercing, but it will get irritated if you do the naughty things that the piercer told you not to.

And with response to the novacaine, it's actually a bad thing to use numbing agents during a tongue piercing, because it can cause your tongue to swell BEFORE the piercing (you know how numbing agents at the dentist make your mouth all puffy...same deal) and you could end up with a crooked tongue piercing. :-p

ive got my tongue and my lip pierced ... a few hours after both of them i had a fag hanging out my mouth a twosing people

it being swollen doesnt make shit difference to infection .. just make sure every day either before or after you clean your teeth rinse your mouth with hot salt water, it helps i promise

i even changed both piercings way before i was ment to, as long as its clean its not gonna get infected

Ha, Ha i just tried to eat soup with rice in it the other day it fuckin sucked! and dont ever try to eat pizza or french fries! and whenever i cough or sneeze i get small tears.

I lived off ice cream and milk-shakes. It doesn't hurt and it helps to stop the swelling.

Ok, sorry about the whole freaking out thing, I didn't realise how much swelling was a factor when it came to tongue piercings. I do still look down on any one that gets it numbed (be it novocaine, opiates, or alcohol) for a piercing or tattoo, unless it's tongue or a suspension.
