ive been thinking about getting one but im torn between getting it or my lip pierced, guys tell me which is better

The guys that I have talked to about piercings and such say they like lip over tongue because tongue can get infected easily and then the spread of STDs, germs, and shit can get spread to them through kissing and such. Lip doesn't get as infected as often as tongue... plus, you COULD (emphasis on could) die from getting your tongue pierced by the wrong person. They can hit the vien in your tongue, paralyze it, and it flips back and chokes you to death. Yea, not cool.... Theres no vien to hit or nothing really serious could happen from getting your lip pierced.

Lip does nothing much for me. I prefer Tounge peircings are by far.

This might just be me, but I think tongue piercings kind of put off a slutty image for most girls. And lip piercings just don't really look that great.

I don't think getting the tongue ring is quite worth it, it's apparantly a pretty painful procedure with some nasty infections if you're not careful!

Libret and lip piercings are probably a safer choice but can sometimes lead to gum and tooth damage.

Personally I'd prefer a girl with a few ear piercings or an eyebrow piercing rather than any piercings around the mouth but if you're dead set on it, do a little research first.

Hahahaha... die from getting your tongue pierced? Maybe if they pierce it with napalm. I have no idea where you could have read such ridiculous stories about a paralyzed tongue that chokes you but.. that's just stupid.

What's even more stupid is the people that would actually be gullbile enought to believe such an outrageous claim:

First of all, there is 2 veins in your tongue. If you look at the bottom you'll see they run on either side. When getting a traditional tongue piercing (in the center) these veins aren't a concern because they're far away from the piercing site.

Second of all, some people do get "venoms" or a piercing on each side. This can be a bit tricky and sometimes the veins are punctured. This means nothing but a little bit more blood and longer healing. You won't bleed to death nor will tongue go alien on you and try to kill you.

Third of all, your veins have nothing to do with your nerves. If your tongue were to become paralyzed, i twouldn't be from veins it would be from nerves. And either way, biologically, there is no one nerve you can sever that will paralyze your tongue.

Fourth of all, if your tongue WAS to become paralyzed by... I can't even think of a scenario. Anyways, even if it was.. why would it flip down your throat?

The pros and cons of getting you lip pierced equal that of getting you tongue pierced.

I don't know why you would say your more prone to getting infections in your tongue. You're LESS likely to get infections beause you saliva has it's own anti-bacterial .. stuff in it that helps break down food and cleans our mouth. This is why people who use mouth wash too much have nasty breath: The more you mess with your bodies mechanisms the less you'll get the desired effect. Think of the evil of douching.

Anyways, don't get piercings (or do anything else for that matter) based on the opinions of others UNLESS you're getting it done FOR someone. A piercing is a process in which you endure pain, patience of healing, and a reward when it's over and healed. It should somewhat of a personal experience for you, not dictated by what other people think.

If you want a piercing, get it done despite the misconceptions of others. Piercings, clothes, etc do not define people. The person define what the piercing or clothes mean to them.

That being said, anyone who thinks you're a "trashy whore" because of tongue ring is obviously a judgmental bigot.

Piercing has it's own history, farther back then Madonna in the 80s. Tongue piercing was originally done in Middle Eastern tribes to speak to the gods. While I don't think too many people now-a-days can claim that's their reason, I do think they're many reasons why people get their tongue pierced. I don't think the easiest-to-understand reason should be the only one for the millions of men, women, old, black, white, young, people that have chosen to get one.

There are many situations where people will do the same thing for different reasons. (All the ones I can think of now are retarded).

Whatever you decide, go to a good, reputable shop. Wait till your 18, blah blah.

That lip ring must be really heavy, my lip doesn't hang at all from my ring.

I personally find lip rings extremely sexy, as with surface napes, surface belly piercings, all ears but conch and tragus, eyebrow staples, nose (not septum), and any labrets. But then again, that's just me and it's not for everybody.

I love them, very sexy. My girl has her tongue and lip, and nostrils pierced. The tongue ring doesn't do anything for head, its just a myth, unless they are actually trying to use it, then its ok, but it distracts them from what they should be doing.

She has a huge spike in her lip, so everytime we kiss, I get stabbed, and it gets jammed into her gums.

Its ok though, I like how it looks on her, so i can work around the spike.

Ah, I think I would know what I am talking about. I did a research paper on it and had to interview all of the tattoo/piercing parlor people that lived in and around my town. They all said the same thing, you could choke and die because it paralyzes your tongue and you have no control over it and it flips back naturally and you choke and die!
