Default Close to a B&M but not, mods please read.

I would like to draw attention to the fact that this forum is filling up with flames that are completely unnecesary along with many "noob" posts that have been repeated a thousand times over. I am asking the mods of this forum why this is being allowed and if they plan on working on this problem or just letting it go?

I was a regular reading this forum for a long time and started posting for a while. After posting for a short while I started noticing the degradation. I belive that this problem is getting worse and if it is felt appropriate, move this topic to Bitch and Moan.

Will the forums be allowed to continue in this manor, or will there be any changes made in the future?

If you agree, disagree or have any other opinions about what I have posted, don't flame, reply.

You have to understand that new people find teotse every single day. Most of them have a problem theyre trying to find an answer too, and google it. THey come up with teotse and post their problem in a forum. Now most of the time they are too caught up with their problem too notice the search function. Hence the repeated posts, once a post is off the 1st page its doomed to be repeated.

There is no way to change this. The only possible way would be a system that only allows you to post untill you have done at least 1 search. But since you dont have to be logged in to search, I dont really see how this would work.

The only thing you can change is the noob flames. But what are you going to do? Ban someone because they flamed. That seems a little harsh to me. And if everyone who made a useless post got banned, the population of teotse would skrink, FAST.

Your adressing the two main problems with any online forum/message board/community.

If the mods are too agressive, people become scared of what they can post, thus defeating the whole purpose of teotse being a "free speech" community. If they are too lax, all you have is fucktards posting because all the vets with something good to say have already got sick of the bullshit and left.

I actually think the mods have been doing a bit better job the past few days. It was getting really bad for a while.

If you don't like how a forum governed by freedom of speach works then just leave. We all have to take the good with the bad. Deal with it.

Your concerns are valid, Syko.

But as others have mentioned, there's only so much we can do to maintain totse policies.

I've decided I will no longer tolerate questions that are asked repeatedly. If it's an obviously repeated question, I'll close it without comment. If I think the person is new I'll explain that the question gets asked repeatedly, point them to a thread that contains enough info for them to find the answers themselves, mention the "search" function, and close it. If they re-post the same thread a third time, I will delete it because it's spam and it's taking up board space. And yes, space is THAT scarce these days.

The best way to deal with idiots is to ignore them. Don't flame and don't point out their idiocy. Just don't respond to their threads. It's hard to distinguish idiots from trolls, so rather than accuse someone of being a troll, just let the thread fall into oblivion if I haven't gotten around to closing it yet.

I do try to check in a few times a day, so if you spot something troublesome that seems to be going unnoticed, feel free to email me.
