^^ *shrug* Are you still whining about that "Die bastard child" thing? You know that post was still there, silly boy.

Pay no attention to ol' CarbonB, Noriyuke. He seems to have anger issues.

So on to your question. It's a difficult one to articulate a response to. My man is subversive yet hopelessly responsible and motivated. He's an achiever yet enjoys being lazy at times. He plays with fire (literally) and has no insurance. He likes the fact that I'm a stay-at-home-and-cooks-and-cleans type. He's frugal but will order $100 worth of chemicals at the drop of a hat. He doesn't touch drugs or alcohol but could manufacture both. He has a sophisticated sense of humor, and is well-respected by peers. Plus he's a computer genius.

So, let's see...responsible, motivated, genius, sets and achieves goals, knows limits and boundaries, has traditional values. Plus he's nice to look at, incredibly sexy and is well above average, endowment-wise. I honestly don't know which of all these is most important, though.

Is this about factual or fictional things?

Deadly that's what you "look" for in a man?

Doesn't that seem to be some impossible goals to reach?

It should be the complete opposite of the typical societal man-animal. I hope it is.

er.. if that is the description of her man, than clearly its not too impossible. =) By the way, deadlycindy, you're one of my favorite posters... you always have something intelligent to say.

To answer the original question, I look for a guy who isnt clingy, and always needing to be around me. He has to be able to "stand on his own two feet" There's the obvious "caring and sweet" shit, but too much of that is a turnoff, at least for me. You always have to leave her wanting more. So, hope that helps.

That's stupid.

I dont exactly have a big list on my wall that says:

'Seek in a man the following' or any shit like that.

How the hell do I know what I want in a guy till I've met him??!?

Bloody....HELL!!

Thanks for clarifying that, and thanks for the compliment.

This is very true. I couldn't have come up with my above description before actually having met him. The best I could do was have a vague idea of what I did and didn't want in a companion. I might have known I wanted someone reasonably intelligent and humorous who seemed to have a fair chance at succeeding in life, not necessarily on a grand scale. It's hard to name attributes in a vacuum, since they often are "weighed" relative to other attributes.

Like this one:

quote:subversive rebel chemist

strong sense of responsibility for priorities

is smarter than me

knows all about history and literature

isn't a drug addict

likes my music

is an arrogant smartass

and can get away with it

questions authority

has an advanced college degree

can cook or is willing to let me cook

doesn't mind being the boss

haunts estate sales

is tech-savvy

can stay up with me all night

None of those are negotiable. Well, maybe the advanced degree, since not everyone can afford it. But those are a lot of things to have to find out about a person, and guys get really uncomfortable being interrogated on the first date. If he doesn't have all that, I can't be bothered to waste time on further dates. I have too much to do, and mostly it's on a computer.

More often I define what I don't want than what I do..

Right now, my boyfriend is a professional chef, works crazy hours but gets amply rewarded for it, has a huge heart, everyone loves him, obviously he's a great cook, makes me laugh constantly, is a smart guy, cares a great deal, is responsible and not too responsible, and has a bizzare and interesting history, somewhat like me, only with more blood (other people's generally, not his).

For me, a man that is sweethearted, and yet can be tough when necessary, who can be relied upon, and who has no 'expectations' of what he wants from me, is merely happy to be with me and let me be who I am, and who can make me laugh all the time, that's the most important thing..

Oh, and he's italian. Every cliche about italians and sex, is true for him.

I'm sure...especially that one about them sweating pure olive oil and smelling like feta.

(Sorry IR, I just love taking pot shots at whops, despite being 1/8 Italian meself)
