You will likely also never be able to participate in the child?s discipline and education. Kid screw up? It?s your fault somehow. Don?t even tell the child what is right or wrong, that will get you into trouble with your new mate also. Also, kids put a big damper on the libido of some women, and even if not, it will reduce your opportunity for intimacy with your new mate.

It sounds like a worst-case scenario, but it can and does happen like that. Friends of mine can attest to it. It can be made to work, with the right woman. Tread lightly and don?t make a commitment until you are doubly sure of what you are in for. Being a role model is an important, but secondary consideration. A child of 1 will bond with you, too much older than that and they may forever view you as an outsider to be distrusted.
