Read a few pages of threads here in S&A. This question comes up in many different ways. There are no magic answers, except maybe that whole "gotta have confidence" thing.

My advice is usually the same. You'll be social when you're ready to be social, and when you're in the situation/company that's right for you. What works for one guy won't necessarily work for another, and if you feel awkward doing something someone else suggests, it won't work for you.

your not social becasue your afriad of rejection, if you admit or not. your afraid of what others will think about you, thats why your social around your friends, because you already know what they will think of you.

with that said, go to the mall, and pick random chicks to go up to and say the worst pickup lines ever imagined too. The point here is to get rejected, and to realize your not trying to pick this girls up, your trying to have a fun time and see what theyd say. After a few times of this youll realize that even though you got rejected, your not dead, and hell you even had fun doing it. Thats the first step to being more impulsive and natural around women.
