Re: does age really matter???
It does matter, but you can have a gap if both people are adults.

Re: does age really matter???
You know theres probably an age problem if one finds pass times at the bar, and the other at the petting zoo.

Re: does age really matter???
to be honest, i think most people get into these "older person" relationships for the wrong reason, but if it's done for the pure enjoyment of being with that person, where no one person stands to gain anything just by being with the other person (wealth, status, etc), it's all good. there's a lot of taboo about dating way younger/older people, ya know, cuz everybody has a friend, who knows a guy who saw something once on 20/20 about that 21 year old that took the 15 year old chick's sock off and got 67 years in the slammer.
it's like any relationship, if it's for the right reasons, then nobody can tell you it's wrong. and you are correct about the age thing once you are older. a 5 year difference at 16 sounds way worse than a 5 year difference at 33, or whatever. smile.

Re: does age really matter???
No, if you both feel the same. But in a lot of states it's against the law to date someone that young if your 18.

Re: does age really matter???
I find the state age limit law stupid, but I can see why it's there. It shouldn't matter what age you are. If you fall in love with someone and they make you happy, the law shouldn't stop you from being happy and being in love. Also, the sex factor in the age issue is just a big trouble maker in relationships. The girl and the guy make love a couple times, and once forget to use protection or don't use it right, and the girl automatically sues the guy because he "RAPED" her! IT was partically hey fault. I still think it shouldn't matter, but yet again, I think alot of things against the law. If I'm in love, I'm in love, no law or anything will be able to stop me or keep me from following my instincts/heart/feelings.

Yeah, i agree with other people when they say the age state law thing is stupid but yeah. I'm dating a guy who's younger than me, but by only *almost* a year, tehhe.

How exact, do the statuatory rape laws encourage the above situation? There has to be some kind of law, otherwise you'd have pervy molesters fucking nine year olds. The law has to be objective, you can't give a standardized test to figure out every individual's maturity level. Sure, people just below the 18 year old mark aren't any less ready for sex, but there has to be a line somewhere.
Maybe the girl in your scenario is one of those mature teenagers capable of giving up consent and the guy didn't take any advantage of her at all. That doesn't matter, because even if he didn't 'rape' her in the traditional sense of the word, and even if she wasn't a victim, he did break the law.
If all you want is sex find somebody your own age to fuck. If you have a serious relationship and mean a lot to each other wait a few years.

Re: does age really matter???
It's becaus let's say a 15 yr old and an 18 yr old are together. Let's see, 15 is 5/6ths of 18 that's a 16% difference of age. That's kind of a lot. But then lets say, a 45 yr old and a 48 yr old are together. That's a .0625% difference. It's all based on how old you are, beecause generally, the older you are, the more mature. There will (usually) be a large difference in maturity betweem 15 and 18, but not between 45 and 48.

Do you mean to say 6.25% ?

what's really strange about this is that mathimaticly it works out the same as it does in the social environment which makes me very uneasy when I think of the other ways you can use mathimatics to solve other riddles.
...but then I ususaly just get stoned and forget all about whatever it is I was thinking about.

Re: does age really matter???
It's all about perspective grasshoppa. At high school age society dictates you should stay within a year or two, as you get older the age factor becomes more lenient. If you disembowel societies rules and regulations and choose to use your own learned set of morals you disregard what society says and make your best decision using your personal code of ethics.. pretty simple eh?

Re: does age really matter???
I once was friends with a 16 year old chinease girl who dated a 27 year old black man. Now I have no racist thoughts about it (I'm black also) but when I saw them together it about made me sick dude. A 11 year difference when your in highschool just isn't right.

Re: does age really matter???
I know a girl who is 17 and is deeply in love with a 34 year old man and vice versa. All parentals are okay with it and so are they. In AL, the law says that you can be 16 and fuck whoever you want to. That's the only cool thing about Bama.
