I got the cold shoulder yesterday. Whenever we have a breakup or get rejected why is it that we like to feel sorry for ourselves? it does us no good. Even when you know you're over it you still want to contemplate it a little more and feel sorry for yourself. why?

That seems to come from in experience in dealing with the brushoff. To get over it, go out and try to get turned down by every woman you see, and in no time you'll have developed a nice emotional calus

Yeah, getting drunk is the cure. That way you can't hear the screams of a thousand dying yous.

This is why we like to feel sorry for ourselves....Human beings as a general rule are dumb, we might have alot of intellegence which is good, but the way we act when the bad starts happening is dumb and immature. I hope that answers your question. Oh yeah, and we can't find any better way to deal with things, try laughing that always works for me when I start feeling horrible.
