This is a pretty popular belief, especially amongst females (of course). But I believe it to be bullshit, at least in most respects.

In what way do chicks mature faster than boys? The fact that they learn to behave themselves sooner?

From what I have seen, many girls think that they are mature because they are fucking an older guy. For example, "I'm 17 but am dating a 26 year old. I know what I am doing and where I am going in life because I am boning and older guy *blah blah blah*."

In my experience, chicks are just as cluless as guys are. Wow, you have tits and menstruate, you're a real woman now. I think that it all ties into the egotistical side of women.

Girls mature faster in some ways; guys in others. Chicks obviously develop faster physically. And they're not 100% masturbation dependent at an age when most guys are. They also tend to be better at reading people. But guys are less impressionable and generally more rational. It kind of evens out

people just say that because girls hit maturity before guys do. it has nothing to do with speed, it just means they start sooner...so i guess that could be misinterpreted as being "faster".

this is rather obvious. women physically mature earlier than guys on the whole, but dont mature sexually until well after males. their organs work, its their brains that are fucked up.

i would say its more mental maturity, in some respects. For example, girls are wanting to talk about guys, yes, but also other things - and we like to have an intellectual conversation. Not taht guys DON'T, but i know many guys my age that cna't hold a conversation w/o giggling at every other word and making sexual innuendo out of EVERYTHING.

i think it has a lot to do with guys' sex drive at this age. like, [as far as people have told me] guys my age [sixteenish] think about sex ALL THE TIME. girls..don't. therefore, we SEEM more mature because we have toehr things on the brain.

Wow, a moderator stood up for me, I feel all warm and fuzzy inside. deadlycindy, you kick ass. And thanks for the compliments. I've always been told I was advanced and it's just been lately that I've realised that they were right and I am a lot more mature than most 14-18 year olds. Yeah i think girls are usually taught this be mature and proper from their parents and if their not there a tomboy or whatever. From a guys point of view we're going to do things that are fun/enjoyable e.g beating off, playing sport, etc. I do agree that girls do mature faster on average than boys but I started when i was like 11/12 so it kind of varies dont it.

In my humble opinion, that's bullshit, it's just a myth women spread and guys didn't really care enough(maybe they were mature enough to ignore stupid myths, anyone?) to deny, and also girls seem to like to show off and pretend they are more mature than they are, while most guys will just act the way they are at those ages, and don't give a crap about other people's opinion of their maturity.

Anyway, I'm young enough to be potentially immature(15) and most people I know my age are really immature, whether they are male or female. However, in my experience, the *really* mature ones at this age are usually guys, key word usually, but the ones that aren't(most of them) are slightly more immature than girls in general, so as I(and a few more people) said earlier, it would seem that girls are just better at pretending, but when they really have to show their maturity they fail, whereas if a guy looks like he's mature, he probably is.

About the "women can read people better" statement someone posted earlier, that's just in the nature of women, just like guys can, like, play videogames better. (I know this isn't always true, but neither is that women always read people better).

Take into account the above post refers to people in general, we all know there are special cases and that no general statement is *always* true, so just bear with it.

Wow. As I read this thread I thought about my own views, and realized that from my own experience, both sexes seem to mature at about the same rate/and age: that is, DAMNED SLOW! I am the rather geeky, quiet type who prefers to sit in a dark corner and observe people. I know alot of guys and girls who are quite mature at all ages, and I know adults that are so middle-school oriented that they make me sick. Though, I have found that while a guy may act flakey or immature in general, when something serious happens, they are more likely to start paying attention, whereas many seemingly mature girls will lose all control. Obviously this doesn't apply to everyone, and I can think of many exceptions as I type this, but that is what I have observed.



Anyway, that is my $4.50 worth.

This is my personal experience, so I'm not claiming I am right:

In general In have noticed girls when they reach 12+ (some cases, even younger) try to act as if as if they are really clever and go on about how imature you are and shit like "just grow up" acting as if they are all mature and whatnot, while displaying arrogance and imaturity. When they get like 14 alot of girls become kinda... 'whorish'... you could say. Going around in mini-skirts acting like they are the best and acting as if they are ready for relationships, when really they don't know what the fuck to do in a relationship, you could say alot are sexually inexperienced (sexually retarded?).

Boys you could say kinda act imature when they are like 11-12, seriously, and it doesn't stop there I've seen 14 year olds act like fucking retards when it comes to things like sex. Like a recent experience, I had some porn in my wallet... (dunno how it got there) and they found it and started acting like seriously gay bastards. Only a few of my mates just thought it perfectly normal. Others found it funny, I dont see why, thing is I think that is quite imature, laughing that someone else likes girls. In my circle of friends, the guys are the ones holding actual conversations[granted, on such topics as video games and computers], whereas we girls are the one making sexual jokes every other second.
