First Date
(To aid in interpretation : I'm 16, so is she.)
Tomorow night is my first date with this girl. I'm taking her to see "The Magic Flute" by Mozart at the opera house. She is a very bright, talented, and beautiful girl. We're both in the school choir and Madrigal ensemble. I'd say she means alot to me. (BTW,these tickets cost me $105.05)
I like her alot, and I know she likes me as a person at least. What I'm looking for is a girlfriend, and I really hope she'd consider going steady. What I'm doing is basically letting this date be the "primer". And I'll see if any sparks fly. Do you guys think that I chose wisely ?
By the way, we both love opera and singing. A classy woman should go on a classy date.

Re: First Date
You're not going to get laid takin the bitch to an opera. Especially at 16 - it doesn't come off as being sophisticate or romantic, it comes off as sophmoric and stereotypical. Take her to dinner and a movie. easy and cheap, then if your feeling the vibe, ask her if she wants to "hang out" at your place.

Re: First Date
I'd say dishing out over a hundered bucks for your first date is a little too much icing on the cake....but hey...as long as you guys have a good time....do not mention any money matters with her...unless she asks....still then try not to reveal too much.....just be yourself don't get all anxious and jumpy.....and do not come on strong....just test the waters. It's your first date....there of course will be some things you wish you did and others you wish you didn't...thats how they go...thats how you learn....

Re: First Date
oo, nice. i'm in the band, and i know that anyone involved with music would looove that. thats really sweet. i think you've got a good chance of getting a gf out of this, because;
1). she accepted the date. she wouldnt do that if she didnt want a date, unless she's a manipulative bitch [in which case you probably wouldnt like her anyway].
2). you two are friends, right? that means you already have the basis of a relationship, so thatll help.
since you both love opera and singing,this should go over VERY well. i'm optimistic.
keep us posted.

Re: First Date
Go for it, for a young couple who both like music, a trip to the opera for a first date is very romantic...
I took a girl on a first date - to Phantom. Wound up marrying her.
So... careful!
