I'm sure it would probably take a guy to introduce some girl to video games, and I'm sure they can get just as easily addicted as us.

Re: Girls and videogames?!?!
Hardcore gamer is a very hard to define word. You can get hardcore arcade gamers, hardcore PC gamers, hardcore console gameres etc. I found that most girls don't take much interest in the gaming world (surprise, surprise) but when they find a game they like they stick with it and play it beyond death mastering every intricacy of the game. (Although I have yet to meet a girl who can beat me at Tekken 4!)
Most of the girls I know dig car racing games. They avoid RPGs because they're intimidated by the grand scale of the things. I can't blame them. This girl I knew freaked out at Final Fantasy XI.
"If it's the Final Fantasy why did they drag it out to eleven?"
I quick few laps around a circuit is obviously much more appealing.
Oh yeah and seeing the Asian girls on the DDR machine after school is quite spectacular.

Animal crossing is the shiznit. Dammit. It's bad enough there are few gamecube owners but the of the few most of them don't get animal crossing. I'm lucky I have one close friend to play animal crossing with. Do you and your girl go into each others towns and stuff?

Re: Girls and videogames?!?!
My girl is a hardcore gamer. She will play almost anything on any medium (console, arcade, pc) She played a little when we first got together, but she turned hardcore! She now plays way more than I could ever hope, and is better than me at almost every game, even my favorites.
I actually get tired of it sometimes. But guess what! It is everything I hoped it could be, I never get bitched at for playing too much. We don't go head to head, because if i win, she gets very pissed. She gets so pissed, she starts to throw shit around. She has broken controllers, headphones, game cd's, and all sorts of other random shit.
It's ok though, because its worth it.

Re: Girls and videogames?!?!
I just forgot to mention my favorite medium. Handheld (I guess that goes under console though). GBA RULES!!! But I have to add to that... why is it called a gameBOY? BOY??? What's up with that? What if a girl played it? Why isn't there a gameGIRL? Hopefully Nintendo will make a unisex handheld (The Dual Screen?)

That's why we don't see many "hardcore" female gamers. They have enough sense not to waste huge blocks of money on games. I guess the same goes for other dorky pursuits that are predominantly male like comic books and collectables. I don't think there's anything wrong with girls but there's something wrong with us guys.

hehe, not true, you should see how much I've shelled out for star wars and beatles collectibles.
I just don't like how too much game play turns people into drones. Maybe it does help hand-eye coordination, and no doubt the best games require a lot of thinking and strategy... but you still turn into a zombie. It's over-stimulation, which is why there are so many goddamn ADHD kids these days.

I think Nintendo did make a Gamegirl at one point, but it was merely a pink Gameboy.

That they're awesome and know how to really enjoy life.
Reason I say that is because it's not 'normal' for girls to enjoy videogames, because it falls under the male stereotype so often. It's just that much more badass when a girl decides to pick up a controler or mouse and keyboard and goes at it. Yeah.

Re: Girls and videogames?!?!
My friend was just recently telling me about how a girl played a football game with him on his ps2, then when she lost she sucked his dick, while he played against the computer.
Another friend, who was sitting nearby was like: "Wait, so she sucked your dick while you played playstation 2?"
And my friend made the motion of playing video games moving the controller up and down as if a girls head was bobbing above his dick-
Other friend replied
"oh, man, thats like my dream!"
haha!
Anyway i dont know if girls like video games, or at least not the ones i know. They like simple games, especially old stuff like NES (i would guess)

Taken from PlayStation Magazines January 1999 issue. I swear I'm not as nerdy as that implies.
Does your girl turn her nose up at the sight of you sitting in front of your PlayStation? Allow our experts to show you how to turn her on
to the PlayStation, we mean
-Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
-Oddworld: Abes Oddysee
At first the joypad may feel awkward in her hands
-Spyro the Dragon
-Tekken 3
But in a short while, shell warm up to the task.
-Parappa the Rapper
-Mr. Domino
If things go right, she might even want to invite a friend
-Cool Borders 2
Bust a Groove
Then you know the night may end up magical
-Tomb Raider II
-Bust-a-Move 4
even if youre only allowed to watch

The reason average women suck at most videogames is because the average woman does not handle surprise situations well at all; hence the female affinity for such shitty games as The Sims and other drone games.

Hey, The Sims is damn fun! You make a family, and you take care of them. Then, when you get bored of that, you enter a few cheats and make your dream life. After that gets boring, you make a full city of sims and KILL THEM ALL.
... I can see why females like playing The Sims then...

Re: Girls and videogames?!?!
I know a girl who goes by Missy (real name Melissa) who is into games. Shes not my definition of hardcore though. Shes great at the entire Zelda series but as far as I know for sure that's all she's actually exceptional at. Only other games I've seen her play are 007 and Diablo 2. Shes decent at 007 but totally horrid at Diablo 2. I mean she wouldn't even take my advice on NOT putting 5 in axe mastery and 5 in sword mastery. She insisted she knew what she was doing even though it was her first month on the game.
I knew one girl like 6 years ago who was into games and I had a feeling she was pretty good at them and I actually liked her a bit but I only knew her for a month then she had to move.
Then there's my aunt Kathy. She is a gamer. She playes every RPG I do and then some and shes great at all of them except fighters on Morrowind.

Its kinda hard to be bad at zelda.

There's also nothing better than beating a girl with the biggest chip on her shoulder just because she can beat her brothers at games. You can see her waiting to give her victory speech and all that girl power shtick. Too bad you couldn't beat me.
Tekken is the shiznit. Of course all the girls figure out Christie is the best dressed and executes the cheapest attacks. I still give em a good beating.

Not really, I'm asian so I'm pretty used to it, what you should look out for is to go to Tokyo, Japan and it'll blow your fucking mind!
