Sometimes people seem to lose the glow they once had; friends can become disinteresting as they change, and as you change. This happened with one of my friends. She took it to mean that I was trying to break apart the friendship so that I could hook up with her without worries about harming the friendship.

It went like this:

Her: Look, I know what you're trying to do, just come out and say it.

Me: What in the name of Christ's left nut are you babbling about?

Her: I'm serious, I know you're just forcing distance so you can lure me into a relationship; I'm not stupid.

Me: If you think that, then you most certainly are stupid.

Her: Bullshit, what other reason could there be?

Me: I just don't find you to be compatible as a friend anymore, I've changed too much and so have you; we have no common interests and can't talk about anything without argueing. It's a friendship both of us would be better without.

Her: (With a dumbfounded expression) Oh, okay. (Walks away quickly)

So apparently, they thought low enough of me to destroy a friendship on the offchance I might start a relationship with them. Fucking shit, no wonder I wanted to end the friendship; they construe all of my actions into some fucking plot to twist everything in my favor.

similar situation, or maybe not, but i'll say anyway, i try and be honest with my best friend that she's starting to overdo the whole having fun thing (alcohol/drugs and such) and she turns around and says i'm trying to ruin her life because i've fucked up my own. ... and that i'm trying to make her feel bad cuz i'm not happy. i'm rather in shock at the idea, but yeah ... i just want her to see she can have fun without doing all this, i come off as being a hypocritical bitch, which is understandable, except i'm recognizing it, gah now i'm rambling about my own problems, i'll just shut up now, this is almost completely off topic except not. (confused look)

And Hex, I hate to tell you, but you'll find that these experiences are some of life's worst; outgrowing friends or losing them. It's just about as bad as having your heart broken. You'll start getting kind of sad again when you think of the good times you had with her before. Don't worry, I'll be there for you..in a month or so. No, seriously; this shit still getting you down in a month, then you call me, mang, and we'll go smoke some bowls and talk about it. I'll be in Rockford by then.

Infrared, I could be the happiest person in the world and it'd still be cool to hang out with ya...just try not to be on meth at the time, eh? The only two places I smoke at in this town are the airport and a really peaceful cul-de-sac in my friend's neighborhood. I occasionally toke in one of the forest preserves...makes for relaxing walks. By the way, I've grown away from friends before and when I look back at the good times we had it doesn't hurt, it actually feels good to know that I had a good life, and still do.

That is an interesting situation, though I usually break off relations ships (just friend) or otherwise, so that when I do look back on them, I can say 'Yeah, I burned that bridge alright.' There is no going back.
