Default A gift of sympathy

This has more to do with love than sex but whatever it's going here.

Im looking for some advice on helping my signifigant other deal with a loss. My girlfriend of one month has recently been mourning the death of a family member. Her grandma, whom she was very close to, passed away yesterday morning because of cancer. She is very emotional and sensitive and I really don't know what I can do to lift her spirits at all. Ive never been in this kind of situation before, and Im wondering if there is anything I could probably do other than offer her my shoulder and ears. I'd like maybe get her something to let her know that Im feelin for her but don't really know what. I gotta do something cuz when someone Im tight with starts feeling any kind of pain, it immediately rubs off anto me and starts eating away. If anyone has advice on how to handle this kind of thing in a relationship effectively share it. Plz and thx.

Just be there for her to talk to, or be there if she doesn't feel like talking. Try not to "cheer her up" or "lift her spirits". People in mourning just need time. If you must say something, it's better to say things along the lines of "sure, it hurts to lose someone" or "I'm here for you, just let me know if you need anything".

I'd advise against getting her any presents at the moment; anything you give her will remind her of her grandmother's passing. Your time and presence is the best gift right now.

If you're inclined, help her and her family with any chores that need to be done, either around their house or packing up her grandmother's stuff or running errands.

Hmmm Yea, Silly Mood...Anyway do you think that something little like a card and flowers would be appropriate?

Possibly, but I personally wouldn't. I'd just do exactly what Cindy said and just be there for her. When people are down like this they don't need gifts and such to cheer them up, or try to make them feel better or anything. They need someone to talk to about everything that has happened and what they're feeling about it. Time is what cures this sort of thing, and a bit of reassurance that you're there for her will never go astray.

I personally had my best friend killed when I was in grade 10 so I've been through this myself. After time it doesn't hurt as much anymore, you accept it and move on.

Another issue, my girlfriend says I can attend the funeral "If I want" but I don't know if it would be right since I had never met her grandma.

By all means attend. That's where you should bring flowers. Paying your respects will go a long way. I'm sure your gf wants you to come.

If they're having a family gathering afterwards, offer to bring a deli platter if you feel like it. It would be appreciated.

Whip your dick out, and ask her if she needs to be serviced. Tell her some hard cock will cheer her up.

The deli platter thing might be a little off, but otherwise, all I can add is lots of non-sexual physical contact will help. Hugs and kisses on the cheek are rarely uncalled for.

I was actually serious about the deli platter, though I see how it seems comical. People in mourning don't usually make nutrition a big priority, and sometimes the simple act of preparing food is insurmountable. My sammitch trays and potato salad are often a big hit at post-funeral gatherings. Really, I'm not trying to be a smartass.

I didn't think you were kidding, Cindy. I'm saying that while it might work for YOU to take a deli platter, it wouldn't fly for him. It's not a guy vs. girl thing, either; I can't envision any guys who wouldn't look weird doing that, but the same goes for most females as well.

Actually, you're probably the only person I can think of who could and would do that. Maybe one or two others if I think hard. It's a matter of personality and style- you gotta be into doing shit like making food for a group of people normally to make that kind of thing work on such a sensitive occasion.
