I usualy go up to a girl, kinda satnd near her and then ask her a stupid q. I still have yet to use the dino question. Some of them I have used are:

One of mine is going to a coffee shop with a friend.

You get into a conversation that he doesn't understand...So that warrants use of a visual aid.

You go up to a table where a sexy chick is and ask her for a pen.

Promise to take it back and smile a lot.

Do the visual aid thing...Then when you take it back say thanks and compliment something about her.

BAM...conversation at your feet!

See, now that's a good pick-up strategy. Plus coffee shops usually have the intelligent, arty chicks that I have a tendency to lean towards so..

You have to say "So, your a girl huh?"

Simply give her a compliment. Don't compliment anything that's too out there. For example, complimenting her outfit or a CD of hers is what I mean. This brings about a common ground between you. If you start off by complimenting anything related to the body is when she'll get weirded out.
