I always think of smooth things afterwards...
Okay today in Art we are doing some paper mache shit, well this one cute girl Ive had my eye on for a couple months was like "please dont get any paint on me" because I was painting near her, and I was just like "alright". Then I seen her washing some off her sweatshirt 5 min later and I was like Did I get that on you, and she was like nah. Then later she asked me if I could help her out and paint part of it for her, and was just like "sure" and "your welcome". This is the first time I talked to her. Later after that I was thinking about how much smoohter I could have been, like instead of saying "alright" I could have been like "ill try not too" and smile. and when she asked me to help her I could of been like "How about that" and just been humorous, but when Im on the spot I just think of one word answers, but after wards I think of witty stuff I could of said to spark something....sheesh. Any advice except be thinking more next time?
PS Im new to the highschool this year (Sophomore) so I donot know a whole lot of girls like most of the guys.

Re: I always think of smooth things afterwards...
Dude...Being smooth isn't so much an action but more a frame of mind.
If you're not confident then you're not going to be able to say anything smooth!
You have to be comfortable with yourself and realise that you can be a suave mother fucker like me!
I used to be really shy and quiet...Now I just speak my mind and smile a lot...It's amazing how many chicks say I'm really nice and funny and great to talk to and stuff!
All you gotta do is put yourself in the frame of mind where you think "I can get this girl...Just be polite and smile and she'll remember me!" and then go and talk to them!
All the best mate!

Re: I always think of smooth things afterwards...
You get a quick wit with experience. I used to either do what you did, think of shit after the fact, or babble through shit and have people give me the most fucked up looks because I sounded like a retard. Eventually, I got better at it. Now I'm at a point where, even if shit I say isn't super-smooth or pure comedy gold, I've learned how to say it in a way that helps keep me going until something better comes to mind. You only get that with practice.

Re: I always think of smooth things afterwards...
Yeah, I think that a lot of guys have that problem. I'm still a bit like that, but I'm not too bad. They key is not caring too much. If you are trying to win her over immediately then you are going to trip over your own legs. Fucking relax man. Pretent that you have a huge penis, but don't care. You know, pretend that you are packing major heat, but you don't show it. It's all on the inside.
Fuck...paraphrased: confidence (duh). Say what you say and do not have regrets about it.

Re: I always think of smooth things afterwards...
last 3 posts were good advice..
on the flip side...sometimes being aloof is even smoother...maybe she was trying to start a convo and you just playing cool made her think of you more
eventually though you have to do more

Re: I always think of smooth things afterwards...
Damn, it seems I'm the only guy in the world who doesn't get crushes.
All the guys I know will fall for some girl, and whenever they talk, he chokes. I just plain don't fall for people, I guess.. I'm pretty witty to everyone no matter what. Is that good or bad..?
As for you, xosfsx, I think psycho had the best advice. It's really just self-confidence. Believe that you can be witty around this girl. Don't make yourself believe that she's like some amazing goddess that somehow grants you the right to talk to her for a change, she's just another girl, catch my drift?

Re: I always think of smooth things afterwards...
What some of you guys seem to be forgetting is that, no matter how much confidence you have, no matter how perfect your mindset is, you still need things to say. That takes practice just like being comfortable around and talking to the opposite sex takes practice. If you're all ready to be smooth and shit, and suddenly you find yourself in the midst of a conversation you've never had the likes of before, you're gonna be stuck.
